Man it is pouring with intermittent rumbles. Btw, did anyone in SE CT hear an explosion a few hours ago? Deep concussion rattled my windows and paintings. Maybe a military jet going supersonic?

I heard it & felt it. I thought for sure something crashed down in or on the house.

On an unrelated note, I finally got a chance to go do an informal survey of the FI tornado path. Interesting stuff. That spot where the road turns towards the waterworks took a pretty solid smack.

Yes, that was definitely the spot with the most damage. It's amazing that the house there (Roadview) only sustained minimal damage. Trees fell all around it.

When I walked Isabella Beach Rd. the day of the storm, I didn't think tornado until I reached the end where it meets Old Mallory Rd. That's when I saw tops of trees with twisting damage. Once I came back onto the main road, it was pretty evident.

Sorry to hear about the Lyme disease. My cousin contracted it years ago, but thankfully it was caught early and he hasn't had any recurring symptoms. The Plum Island facility I believe worked with anthrax and small pox. I doubt Fishers hosted any biological testing, given the large civilian population. The only military facility left out here is an underground bunker that once stored shells and powder during the days of Fort H.G. Wright and was later employed as a sonar monitoring station during the Cold War. And I think that has been abandoned for quite some time as well. Actually can fit the whole island in the event of a major hurricane, nuclear meltdown/attack etc.

Yeah, I doubt Fishers had any craziness going on. Plum Island is locked down like Fort Knox & the Navy property for the sonar testing is pretty accessible, even with the fence.

I think in the end I will come to prefer 2012 over this season. At least that season had excitement in October. Nothing like having average temps and well above average precipitation with 4" of snow for the meteorological winter to date. 2012 also featured very low expectations from the get go, was relatively mild and transitioned into spring with one of the great torches of all time. I remember walking home from work in the financial district with that distinct smell of grass in the air. The cherry trees in the graveyard by the Athenaeum were in blossom and hundreds of people were lying out on the Common soaking up the 80 degree temperatures. That was a spectacular stretch.

At least I was able to shovel once in '11/'12.

It's down in Branford right off 54. Called PeriShip. Not a bad area. It's a nice drive too from West Hartford, but it's brutal from Danbury. Luckily while I've been in school I work remotely and just go in on Friday, but once school is done I'll go in every day. I think in a few years or so I will look to move down that way (though not along the coast b/c t'storm death zone) but was thinking Hamden...nice jackpot for snow and severe

    Thank you.

    Congrats Wiz!

And uh, I had a tornado a mile from my house.  :twister:
