  1. I will ALWAYS be a more snow is better person, but.....ever since my civil engineering husband took the plunge and had solar panels applied to our house we have a nightly/weekly discussion on how many, what we call "Jabloops" have been credited to our PP&L account. My husband, a civil engineer waited until the solar engineer in his company pulled the plug and purchased solar himself. I say PURCHASED because there is NO way that we would do that other way that let the solar company get the tax credits. "I" am the weather scientist (USCGA Class of 1987, Applied Science). Being an engineer, he required them to "over design" our panels to 130% of our needs. I checked it with him over the weekend and as I expected the north facing panels provided very little since the last storm. Fortunately the majority of our panels are on the south side. I just wanted to see how long it took for all of the panels to be snow free.
  2. Living up to your "handle", still training! Enjoy the south! I will NEVER live in Miami again after losing a house due to Andrew! That being said, it is a great place to experience multiple cultures and cuisines!
  3. My brain requires me to see data in an orderly matter so I took a second to do this to make it easier to judge as we go. We can laugh as we pass each person's prediction! 4. Who here remembers years past when we had multiple threads to differentiate the upcoming storms to decrease confusion? Exciting times! The "Good 'ole Days" for winter weather lovers!
  5. I am thrilled to have a number of days of model runs to look forward to! It's been years since I was active here. As a chemistry/marine science major at the USGA with a personal interest in meteorology, I know just enough to be dangerous. Actually, my coworkers rely on me to interpret the multiple forecasts. I can read weather maps and follow model runs, but I rely on y'all for official tie breakers! My son, a Central Dauphin High School graduate (college time at Susquehanna for 2 years, UTI, etc) finally found his path, in the US Space Force and is looking forward to applying his science knowledge(well after he ends his tour representing the Space Force as part of the Honor Guard)! He has spent hours on here and evaluating models with me (we have multiple aviators and USCG sailors in the family, so weather is a passion for many of us) and is comparing my opinion to his interpretations (from Joint Base Anacostia Bowling). We all know how that thread goes! Lol!
  6. It's interesting in the office today. The atmosphere feels like we have an impending snow storm with everyone strategizing and excited. Fortunately, we have the option to work from home (so why did our company force us all back into the office?). Hurricane season is my second favorite weather tracking season (even though I lost a home to hurricane Andrew in Homestead). And we thought winter systems were squirrelly? LOL
  7. And here I was hoping for an uncomplicated, easy to forecast win for us! LOL
