Just had a decent shower

I guess this is the most appropriate thread to grade the past winter
D
The only thing that kept this from being an F was the 1/7 event that put down a foot of snow, which for my area is impressive in any winter.
I think we only got down below 10f once and there were no cold days below 20f for a maximum which is rare. Just a handful of daytime maxes in the 20s. Number of days with an inch or more snow wasn't the worst but was low at 18. Almost 30 inches below normal snowfall...40 percent of normal.
Better luck for everyone next winter

20 inches in the glens falls area, will see some areas over two feet
That's awesome, they haven't had a whopper in a while.

Glens Falls has to be over a foot

Car thermometer says 30f but it's all liquid on all surfaces. Even if it's off a couple degrees, this is as cold as a cold rain gets.
Thought we would've had more sleet last night.

I hope they get buried up north. At least someone gets a good winter storm.

Mid to upper 40s and overcast with a chilly breeze. Had to put the hoodie back on.

Stunning afternoon

ORH gust to 59mph!
You were right about the wind today, we easily had gusts over 45 mph, perhaps 50. A few flurries earlier too.

Anyone know how much snow Mitch got from upslope?
-
I think it's kind of exciting, at least there's gonna be some snow up north....something to watch and track
Sure feels and looks like a snow sky even here although I know it's just rain here but at least it feels a little wintry.

Where's the afternoon brightening the radio said we would have this afternoon?? They said upper 50s too??

96-97 was not good until the big boy hit on 3/31. The "best" event was the surprise storm Jerry mentioned. Was supposed to be this innocuous little thing going south of us. It basically was one of those WSW-ENE deffy bands that dropped 10" of fluff just south of BOS. I think BOS had like 6".
But I recall many of the events were 2-3" slop events that turned to rain. We did ok on the first Dec snow event, but porked in the second one. The famous Cantore TSSN one.
I remember being astonished that we wound up with normal seasonal snowfall that year when I lived in Bristol CT. I do remember a six inch storm in January and it was a quick hitter at night. But I also remember that winter torching something fierce.
-
The only thing positive I can think about the last six seasons (this one included) is despite all being anywhere from ten to twenty five inches below normal, we have had four double digit events here over the time period. Something unheard of in the 80s and the first two 90s winters

PD2 was a big storm when I lived in Bristol CT with around 16 inches but really wasn't that exciting. 1" hr rates with fair snow growth.
What was more interesting was how it kept creeping north and how slowly north the leading edge was moving. Also really cool was that Sunday had textbook increasing high clouds with bitter cold temps and calm wind. High was around 10 above that day before the storm.
