Awesome stuff. I decided on Island Falls (random I know lol) and we were on the road very shortly after totality. There was some congestion but I got to Portland with very few delays.
Not so random - I know a guy who went there! Craig Shaknis. tbh, I don't even know where it is .. lol!

Power was restored yesterday morning at some point. A little over 100 hours out - a new personal record!

I went to the shore of Mooselookmeguntic Lake and got cooked .. haha! It was a great time obviously with a smaller crowd than the usual places. One shot of the diamond ring and the other a wide angle which I haven't edited yet. Might add the various phases of the eclipse to it. Epic traffic on the way home - took me about 4.5 hours for a normally 2.5 hour drive

What would be your thoughts on Greenville Maine?
.Clear and crowded

Still without power but crews are working in the area. Enjoying the amenities of the Portland Hilton Garden Inn on the waterfront over the weekend

I plan on hiking Bald Mountain in Oquossoc ME, near Rangeley. Leave Portland around 3am and get there just after sunrise, snowshoe up with a crap ton of gear - a couple camera bodies, a 500mm lens, a 14mm lens, two tripods and assorted accessories - and enjoy a sunny warm day at the summit. I suspect I will not be alone, but it won’t be crowded. A late departure time for the return trip home will hopefully mean a lot less time in traffic .. home by 10:00? That would be ideal

Heh, now I have to consider Maine. It may be a bit longer, but I may go to a place in eastern Maine off 95 just to avoid the backroads. The Katahdin scenic outlook is closed?
Rangely seems good on paper but the road network doesn’t seem ideal to me.
My spies tell me the Katahdin Overlook is plowed and open, fwiw

How did the NAM sleet idea work out? Some were pimping it wicked hard

In the neighborhood of 18-19". Power out, no cell service, all sorts of trees entangled in power lines in my neighborhood, the power line to my house is laying in the road .. this will be a long-duration outage and as it's the weekend we will get a hotel room til Monday.

I took a walk on the roads around my home and took a video. There’s a couple limbs falling in it, but not nearly as close as a few where i was no more than maybe 20 feet away.

You going to work? Are you on backup there? Don't think I'll be heading in

I don’t think I can make it as several roads are blocked by fallen trees

Currently 80k without power in Maine

I think we are pretty f’ed here. Just went out to fill the gas tanks and had a slow white knuckle drive with limbs and power lines across the road. Whiteout conditions when driving past the lakes. Hvy hvy droop .. gonna take a walk for pics when daylight

I've got a honda genny. I usually wheel it out then put a folding table over it then a tarp. I leave the ends open. Poor mans shelter but I only do this in bad rain or sn storms. Does everyone else cover their portable genny or do leave it uncovered and hope for the best
I pull it out when the power goes out

I had 3" of sleet when I was expecting damaging freezing rain. That ended up closer to the coast

I don’t like that primary low, ha. Warm mid-levels doesn’t seem like a huge stretch with the mid-level set-up. That primary low makes it like a SWFE on the front side.
Like Scooter said, it makes sense to some degree but it’s also the NAM.
I'm just bustin'. If folks want to Zapruder the 60h 18z NAM then this is the place to do it

Getting a little granular with the NAM at like 60 hours here .. haha!

I doubt anything that falls after sunrise Friday is snow - pretty light rates - but before that is certainly a hoot
