  1. Picked up 3 inches in midtown Newport News. Last band dropped a 1/2 inch in 20 minutes. AKQ storm reports have 4 inch amounts in Franklin and Suffolk.
  2. NWS Wakefield should put out an updated Public Information Statement soon. They can be found at http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=AKQ&issuedby=AKQ&product=PNS&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=on Also, some people are reporting amounts on the NWS Wakefield Facebook page but I'm not sure how reliable they are.
  3. Agreed. A line from Roanoke Rapids to Wakefield or Smithfield and then Newport News typically comes up with similar amounts, temps, etc. We were impacted by the sleet but not as much as south of the James River like Suffolk, Portsmouth, and Norfolk.
  4. Up to 9 inches in Newport News, VA. Still coming down hard. Wind is gusting to 15-20 mph and blowing the snow around.
  5. I'm just glad the sleet appears to be gone. I think 8-12 looks solid around here depending on rates, flake size, etc. This is fun!
  6. 4.5 inches here in midtown Newport News. Flipped back and forth from sleet to snow from about 3 until 6 and all snow since 6. Rates are improving and wind is picking up.
  7. Appreciate the response. Newport News now back to mostly sleet. No snow yet.
  8. Are the HRRR snowfall graphics only available via WB?
  9. 31.8 in Newport News with freezing rain and a bit of sleet. Radar looks great but need to cool down the 850-950mb temps here if we want to switch back to snow.
  10. Raging sleet storm in Newport News with winds picking up.
  11. 2.5 inches of snow in Newport News. Still coming down light to moderate. Haven't seen the Euro clown maps, but I'l assume that Newport News and Suffolk are right in the middle of that crazy difference.
  12. Between 6 and 7 inches here. Great storm!
  13. Measured between 4.5 and 5 inches. Best rates of the night right now.
  14. 1.25 inches in Newport News (Deep Creek), 19 degrees. New SPC mesoscale discussion out: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0040.html
