Just dont move to south charlotte/union county. Even when charlotte cashes in, we get nothing. Basically always below the snow line...atleast we have been for the 6 years ive lived here
I’ve fared a little better here NW of town but have had higher totals all around me since building over here 7 years ago. Always something whether anemic rates, tiny flake size, sleet, etc. Kills me as growing up in northern Catawba County always put me on the good size of these kind of storms. Wife wants to move back home to somewhere around Asheville so hopefully this time next year I’ll be posting from 3000+ feet.

Just like I thought, about 1” of compacted snow and sleet here across the river from Mt Holly. Congrats to the Raleigh crowd, just means next storm is Charlotte’s to score lol.
-
Sleeting hard, gonna take the dog on a jeb walk. When the warm nose gives you sleet you make lemonade lol. Maybe 1” snow/sleet from eyeballing?

And just like that, snow almost stopped, now 85% sleet.
Yep, laying here trying to go to bed and it just started hitting the wind on that NE wind. 4-5” of slop again incoming I’m sure, maybe backside on Monday will drop a couple inches of fluffiness. Although part of me thinks it’s rate driven just like earlier tonight for me...

CC already back into Meck county. This heavy stuff isn't going to last long, unfortunately. It was fun while it, briefly, lasted.
Link? Can’t remember where to find it at.

That's ok.. for once, I'm ahead of you... lol
Started as all snow, and gradually increasing in intensity. I think this is going to be a good one for us both. 37.3/28.2
I told you it was coming and gonna be all snow at the start for y’all!

Mooresville about to get a heavy dose of snow from a band entering Cornelius right now
That band means business. Wait til you see the size of the flakes with it.
-
Total paste bomb right now, half dollar or bigger flakes showing up now from them sticking together
-
Just big fat nickel and quarter size flakes just coming down good. Already got a slushy trace. Oh if it can/could stay like this for about 18 more hours

Hey look, I finally get into the fun! Nice fat flakes finally flying and at a good rate. Grit, Wow, Corn, etc, y’all are next in line!

Guys in Mooresville, it’s going to be a painstaking wait for you but it should be all snow there when it starts. It’s obvious this CAD is doing its thing with these dew points as radar returns have been the best all day over me north of 85 and the best I can do right now is a light snow/rain mix with the occasional bigger flake making it down. It’s wanting to start going to what everyone S and SW of here is seeing but not quite there yet. Sets up good for y’all when it finally breaks out up there.

Finally feel comfortable saying the snow is starting to make an appearance here by Mt Holly. Looks like white rain but it’s flakes and they are slowly getting bigger and picking up in intensity. Hope to look just like Doppler here in the next 30 min, standing outside in some heavy stuff.

South of uptown!
Seems like 85 is the dividing line for reports of snow as the airport reported it but 5 miles NNW of it I’m unable to. Which matches up with radar up til now. You and GunBlade are killing me with your obs!

All snow now!! LETS GO!
Ugh....same old song and dance here. Snow to my west and snow to my east now. Although I swear it’s wanting to start snowing here. Just can’t quite get a good rate...
-
Back to a lot of sleet, little rain and now the occasional small flake mixing in. Still fairly light in intensity though.

You positive? Not to sound like a jerk. My back table is getting a coat of sleet as well.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s getting nothing but drizzle or light rain, it’s like once you get under a green radar return you’ve got frozen, if not you’ve got squat. Hence why I went back to drizzle/light rain.
edit - I say that and just saw a few tiny flakes in the porch light. Need those better returns to get back up here.

Always thought it was you who kept me all snow during last January's storm.
Nope that was me, the battle line for more snow vs sleet setup right over my house . It was me and SnowNiner with 4-5” of slop/concrete, grit with a solid 7-8” of mostly snow if I remember and then you cashed in staying all snow!

Definitely is rate dependent thus far, back to very light rain, maybe a few pingers mixed in.

37.6 with sleet, I think it's mixing in with rain, not completely sure.
Not much rain anymore in it, mostly sleet. Bet we start flipping to snow west to east around 9.

Trucks have a slushy trace of sleet starting to accumulate on them. I tend to like a little sleet base, helps snow stick faster/better so sleet to snow Might actually be best for my area of CLT lol

I’d say at least 80/20 sleet to rain now here across the river from Mt Holly

2” of compacted slop now here on the NW side of Charlotte. Sleet/freezing rain mix now, mainly sleet.
