40 mph gusts plus a foot+ of 8:1 snow is concerning. Gonna be some outages if those winds verify. Probably some outages even without the winds with those ratios. Not really sure about chasing this to SR on Thursday - unfortunately the local hill is now closed midweek. Lifts go down at SR when a moose farts.
There's going to almost certainly be outages in my area. I will be getting more gas tomorrow.

The spreads in the GYX snowfall predictions are huge - 90%/expected/10% for Farmington are 4/8/20. MHT <1/4/13. Lots of uncertainty still.
For Jaffrey, it's 4/12/16 so we likely to be in the power outage world again.

Looking at the NWS point and click for NNE, it looks like my area is either the jackpot or the worst place to be, depending on how you look at it. My problem is that I help lead one of 96 robotics teams of high school students that are going to be loading into the Big E on Wednesday afternoon. The competition runs through Saturday.
The joy we have: heavy trailers full of equipment being driven through Wednesday's snow / sleet fest and then unloaded in Wednesday's rain in MA while our power lines come down at home. We all received the email that we'd qualified for this yesterday and today at 5pm is the registration payment deadline.
So while it's truly an IMBY question, how bad is it going to be for the Monadnocks?

Power bounced around for a while. It's now out and I think it's going to be a while. Bought a ew generator this fall though.

Sorry for the OT guys, but worthwhile read during this down time for anyone struggling with addiction, or who knows someone who is.

Thank you for posting this! As someone who has a family member that has been sober for a decade or so, I am eternally grateful that every day is another day that we have them with us. It's a tremendous gift to be able to share something so intense and personal.

Miller State Park probably has more. I'm about 850' elevation on the north side of a hill.

I wouldn't be at all shocked to see a February 2010 Snowmageddon repeated somewhere.
We had last year's March epic snowstorm and I can pass on a Snowmaggeddon, honestly. Some snow yes, over 30", no.

@NHDrySlot Flipped to sloppy Snow in Bedford. So, the snow line isn't too far N&W of MHT
We've had snow here for a while. It's not really accumulating.

My experience with Amica has been terrific for years. I'd definitely look at their options. They're probably not the cheapest but they definitely do well on the customer service / details to claims. I recently had an auto claim - someone backed into the side of my car in a parking lot and Amica handled it well.

I don’t think any precip will have started by 8pm tomorrow. Looks closer to 10pm-midnight timeframe.
Thank you! That helps

I know this is a classic IMBY question but I'm scheduled to have a meeting tomorrow in Peterborough with teens which gets out at 8pm. Most don't live in Peterborough so will be driving outside the relatively warm and flat area. If you were running the meeting, would you cancel because teens + first snow of the year? The work needs to be done but none of it needs to be done this week.
Thanks!

That week after Tday is looking more intriguing. Previously, we had the best cold coming in around Tday and the few days after with a cold (but moderating) pattern to close the month…but it seems the best cold will be that week now which helps increase the chances a little bit for a threat.
Its still early for something big but can’t totally hate the EPS or GEFS look…
December 2. It'll probably rain or sleet here because there's a Christmas tree lighting and parade in the evening. Nothing like a cold rain outside on a Saturday evening.

Jeff. my condolences. This is awful, in so many ways. I hope that there's time to get out in the woods and just be there, taking in the peace.

before you jump think about the property taxes, very high in NH
Once you have enough to put some in current use, the $/acre go down significantly. Buy lakefront property in a town with a great or expensive school district and, yes, you will pay for that. It's the total tax burden that tends to be lower but if it's just investment / weekend property, then the property tax will be higher than many places.

You guys may find this shocking but ...the models are bring rain a week from Saturday
It's going to rain then in Plymouth, NH. Guarantee it. I'm going to be at a big event up there. Today was supposed to be some set up for tomorrow's event here. It's been pouring off and on.

Hopefully no rain here for Saturday afternoon and evening. tl:dr: Oktoberfest, 16 different craft beers
The Friends of the Meetinghouse are hosting an Oktoberfest from 4-8 in the center of Greenfield, NH. The meetinghouse needs plenty of repairs and this is a great way of helping. https://fb.me/e/341FjuLYe

I'm not used to looking at Pacific models so can anyone recommend a reliable one for tracking Mawar? I have a friend in Taiwan atm and am looking to give a bit of guidance.
