Lol, I actually stop in Tightsqueeze for gas sometimes when I drive down 29 to Atlanta.  And I stop mainly because of the name!  Interesting history, actually.  That town basically invented the drive thru back in 1870!

“The community of Tightsqueeze got its name due to the construction of two buildings close to a road that connected Chatham and Danville during the 19th century. In 1870, W. H. Colbert built his general store close enough to the road that women could go straight from their carriages to the store without getting muddy or dusty.

Soon, another merchant, Isaiah Giles, built a blacksmith-wheelwright shop directly across the road from the general store. It, too, was on the road's edge. Due to the closeness of the two buildings, buggies and wagons had to slow down as they passed between the two buildings. Thus, individuals were told to slow down for the "tight squeeze" where the two stores were located.”

DT's last call map. He is heading to an epic bust IMO.

He is gonna bust big time on the west side of the storm.  He’s got Erie in 3-6”, but the models say 15” (NAM)- 32” (Euro), lol.

Forecast high for western Fairfax County today = 30. Actual high temperature = 26. A great battle between the surface and atmosphere is about to ensue.

Well, technically, the highs were probably recorded at midnight ;).  My home weather station here in Centreville recorded a high of 34 degrees at midnight.  But yeah, I’ve been between 25.0 and 26.5 most of the day today as well.  Such wasted cold :(

GB 16 what a storm. We KNEW we were gonna get demolished. 27 inches of snow in Dale City on a level. Plows were having such a hard time! Some of them kind of bounced off the pack lol. I was digging and digging and digging! First I made a path for my Dad's car to the street, which was in fact a wall of snow. What little the plows did, made it worse! Then my neighbor wanted me to chop thru a 7 foot drift in front of her front door and windows! My phone was going off over and over and over again! I was getting slightly tired then the other neighbors started up: You love snow, Jeb! Dig ME out! The other neighbor: All you ever do is go on and on and on about that weather forum! When are you gonna dig me out? Yeah I had talked myself right into having to dig everyone out. People joked about the so-called Jebman Standard (Dig at least 8 feet around all cars lol). I was in over my head, lol - I never realized people read American Weather Forums in my neighborhood lmao

And so it went. Yeah I dug so much snow, I was digging it in my exhausted dreams, for days.

    Legen…..dary!

Best friend found a place that sells bottles of Old Weller Antique for a relatively good price, so I grabbed a bottle.

    Goddamn if that ain’t a smooth-ass bourbon...

    2 Kirin Ichibans at dinner

    6 TRULYs at home

2 Miller lites at the bar

back to TRULYs on the couch

  6. Been tooling around town and was impressed with the roads for the most part.  Lee Highway is just wet, Lee Rd and Old Lee Rd are a little dicey, Lee-Jackson Hwy is just wet, and Lees Corner Rd was clear for the most part but had some slush on it.  28 and light freezing drizzle.

Really sleeting hard. Impressed at the poor conditions of secondary roads. This is Guinea Road on the way to Target:

A new brewery is opening over near there soon (“early summer”).  “Bunnyman Brewery.”

27 and sleet.  Sidewalks and edges of the road have caved.

  8. Wow, just checked this thread before bed expecting to see 1000 reports of cold rain like me, but it seems very strange (and frustrating) for places so close to DC getting crushed with snow.  It’s colder NE than it is NW.  weird.

NWS new radar is utterly awful. Took a fully functioning entity and made it a muddy mess that won’t load and the national map is a useless mess cluttered with individual radar site buttons that don’t load and delete the previously selected site and blot out the National

See this is who is in charge of models also. Trying to be too precise and making a potential previously functioning tool almost useless.

I agree.  This seems to apply to a lot of things these days.  New and NOT improved.  Same thing anytime I get an upgraded operating system, new computer, or new phone at work (govt).

Expecting a little sleet tonight followed by cloudy and cool through Saturday morning.  #deepwinter

I’m going with 2-4” for most north of US rt 50. Extend that west thru Virginia. I mean splitting hairs I guess but most places should see at least 2” from this but probably not more then 4 or 5

Did you know that Rt 50 runs west of Maryland through Virginia all the way to West Virginia?
