I’ve been looking since moving back from FL but can’t see paying 28-32K for a full size truck with a 100k miles. Been looking at the mid size route and it’s almost as bad
Gotta buy private sale. Dealers hose ya. Plenty of decent trucks out there if you're patient. Too bad most of em have 3' beds though. Glorified mini vans.

My driveway has 160' of elevation change so the brake dust would be back as soon as I leave.

If you live on a gravel road or have a gravel driveway it's a Sisyphusian task. Go for it in the burbs if that floats your boat.

The only time my trucks get washed is before the under body coating goes on. Once a year.

Coldest spring ever.
"Euro 12z AI going wild March 18-23 with major eastern storm and one of the coldest opening to spring outbreaks into the east on record."
Is AI going to make forecasts better or worse?

if you shovel properly, use decent footwear, and aren't horribly out of shape, there is a 99.99999% chance you'll never hurt your back.
I weigh 600lbs and have a broken back so I just use a plow truck naked except for sandals. Am I doing it right?

It’s a beast. I know you saw these in texts but I had a huge white pine on one side and a massive 120 yr old Oak on other side taken down earlier this month before the snow.Stump grinder is coming next week. Lawn was ruined but will all be redone this spring .. I asked the tree guys about the 5 prong and they all said those are very rare and have not see many . They inspected the cables and said if it were ever to come down more than likely only one would break off . He told me those things were here in 38 and 55 canes and will likely last another 30-40 years unless
Was it a white or red oak? Where did the log go?

Yes you do. The only reason I cut it like that was I wanted both pieces to come down on a stuck tree in front of it. Usually I always cut them individually. Yep emerald ash borer. Only have a few trees left.
RIP. Some of my best morel spots were around ashes. I've got a few hundred board feet milled and a few 3' logs left. Ash will be in short supply in just a few years, sad.

Plenty of oaks left here. Seemed to me like certain parts of town for hit a lot harder than others. I drove on the mass pike at some point whenever that was and it was slaughter there compared to where I'm at.

Procrastinating cutting a triple maple on the edge of my yard for that reason. Gotta cut em individually even if it's awkwardly high. That one dead from the ash borer?

thanks, but how do you tie up and attach on a 12/12 roof?
Better yet, save all your pee and get a big super soaker. Plenty salty.

So we have an ice dam that is causing some issues. I don't think I realized what it was until I saw the large icicles hanging off the siding. Pretty sure this happens every winter at some point, but don't recall seeing the icicles before. Last summer I noticed the pine soffit trim pieces had a punky look to them and have some mold on them, but it didn't make sense at the time as to why. Now I know. Is there anything I can do now to relieve the dam? I realize there is water pooled somewhere above the ice at the edge of the gutter, but not sure how far up. Best I can do is try and shovel some of the snow off the roof immediately behind the ice. With the warm up coming, I'm hoping it melts pretty quick, but this side of the house (north) doesn't get much sun so probably won't melt as quick as I'd like. I'll definitely need to remove soffit pieces in the Spring and investigate a bit behind the wall. The backside of wall is our master bed closet. So far I don't see any water damage. Fingers crossed.
Get a roof rake and add that to your shoveling duties.

Those were probably chokecheries. Tent caterpillars love nesting in those.

If they're proper trees they're black cherry. Choke cherry doesn't grow very large, more like a glorified shrub.

Springs have been nice in general sense( by NE standards) Iron clad
I can agree with this since I don't own a orchard. I would like some fresh peaches this year though
-
My buddy has over 1000 peach trees. Always a risk in SNE but the killing frosts have been more frequent. No peaches for the past two years. He's on a hill. Could be one of those rare low lying hills I suppose.

That happens every year in low lying radiating spots in May. When it’s 62 with a dew of 18. You get a fake cold morning of 28. It had to have been warm to have those blooms in the orchards right?
No.

All I'm saying is I'm sure there are plenty of grannies out there who need a good plowing.

Some folks just born to complain. I've found the key for myself is to balance out the hope with an equal amount of dread. Just gotta load up on unpaid snow removal responsibilities, that ought to do it for all the whiners- give em a silver lining.

Airplanes are way worse emissions wise if you care about such things. Somehow it's always the folks who feign concern over CC who seem to be living the jetset life. I'd rather drive both my big loud diesel trucks and actually do what I can in my own way than just tsk tsk folks who have bought into a culture of trucks, however lame it may be that they've turned into commuter vehicles.
