I know that this is hard for you to believe but it's the short term, high resolution models like the one I posted that you should be looking at right now. Not the globals and not the clueless NAM. The 3k NAM does have some skill but this should be your red flag here. When the UKMET is only showing temps topping out in the lower 30's and then dropping like a rock you should probably think twice considering it has a known warm bias.
Again, this isn't a big deal for the city. IT WAS NEVER GOING TO BE A BIG DEAL FOR THEM OR THE IMMEDIATE COAST. THAT'S THE TRADEOFF OF LIVING NEAR THE OCEAN AND SURROUNDED BY CONCRETE.
Its funny you put this up because that basically what my last post said. Its cold and low level cold air doesn't retreat easy. Even at the coast it might be close. Northern Manhattan and the bronx might barely see any liquid precip, most of what falls will be frozen.

Well it's 31 here with a dp of 9f..even with mid level torching..the lower levels aren't going much over freezing even for northern parts of nyc proper. I see this as ice skating rink type of storm with a bit of rain and then snow to end.
-
We have more snow incoming..my guess is that we hit the 3+ inch range in the city soon..I have 2.7 down as of 9:20 a.m.

Woke up to moderate to heavy snow here..60 to moderate daytime snow is quite a feat. About a inch and change has fallen here..

Sleet fest on the UWS ground whitening. Even mangled flakes
It's crazy how a northerly wind can keep it all snow just north of you. In Riverdale the bx it's 29f with snow. Cold air still coming down the Hudson Valley..my temp has dropped a degree too with a nne wind.
-
Snow coming down at a better clip now..also my temp has dropped a degree..it's 31f with light snow, its still 28 to 32 degrees here in the bronx.
-
Light snow now falling here in the bx.
-
This coastal front has 2 waves now. The one off sc/nc and one just off the the delmarva. Might be interesting to see if the precip starts to move nw. Most of l.i would be rain by that point.northern Manhattan and the bx stay frozen for a bit longer.

Hearing on the scanner of icing conditions in Bronx, Manhattan and northern parts of Queens. Here in southern Brooklyn I am down to 31 with some drizzle. No icing that I can see as of yet.
It's a ice skating rink up here..I can confirm this. Its been icy since this morning.
-
Nice lil flurry burst here..guess we fully transitioned to snow and I think more precip is coming our way with the last passing disturbance.

It's a funky setup but we might actually get some snow overnight. Not that it's any better with a coating snow on black ice...

The winter Olympics are in full effect up here in the bronx. Today's events are speedskating.. and ice skating.

About 8” on the uws. Probably not going to make a foot but 10” is within reach. With all the blowing and drifting it seems allot more impactful then a normal 8” storm
I think its closer to 9. But what's a inch or 2..the 10 inch line is literally 10 or less miles east of you and incoming.

trying to decide whether to head back out to Central Park (after walking around there from 630-930) now that I've had breakfast or wait a while. Snow is still coming down pretty good here, what are the odds it's still like this around noon?
Expect more snow amigo lol

Hardest I’ve seen in snow here in White Plains. Hopefully we get into some decent banding for a little while longer.
It's been snowing hard for close to 4 hours now..it should keep snowing for a while. The 10+ inch line just about runs from Brooklyn up the bqe thru Central queens and the bx..its puking snow atm and the winds have picked up again.!!..you should be close to 7-8 by now..

The temp never went above freezing here. It's 31f with a dp of 9. Low level cold isn't going anywhere. As I mentioned before its gonna be a ice rink, even for nyc. The rain will be down to a drizzle by the time it transitions.
