This makes me sad. I've had tons of gray tree frogs every spring for the last 20 years or so.  This year I have not heard a single one. I wonder what would cause a large population to disappear so suddenly?

In case the smoke wasn't thick enough by itself, the white pines decided this was the day to unleash the pollen clouds.  Just ridiculous looking outside.

Boy does it look awful outside...  so brown and smokey.

Why is there such a dramatic difference in rain intensity between the GYX and BOX radars for this area?

Enjoyed 4 nice downpours today to help keep the moss nourished.

I'll start planting tomorrow, by far the latest I've ever started planting.  I'm usually done by now. Really feels like the arrival of stable planting weather has been getting later and later, despite how much warmer the climate has become.

The bottom 30 feet of nearly every beech tree on my property has some sort of disease causing the leaves to die off. 

That random strike just now may have given me a concussion. Nice.

Not sure if these are positive strikes or what, but the last 4 lightning strikes shook my house far harder than last years earthquake.  Just massive deep long booms.

This gets more nuts the more I watch it.

Bear could not defeat my military grade bird feeder, so he took it with him along with all the hooks and accessories he'll need to hang it in his den. 

Saw a nice lightning strike on the way home from Shaws. Checked radar when I got home and that did a truly exceptional job of pissing me off. 

Peepers peeping for the first time.  Extremely late this year.  Even the white throated sparrows started singing before them.

My anemometer definitely seemed to be undermeasuring all day, but then it recorded one single rogue gust to 52 so idk.

Epic squall. Sky got dark and ominous and the wind roaring was great.  Good stuff.

Indoor humidity reached 6% this morning. 

A few days ago I went to pick up my laptop and got a static shock so brutal that it actually killed it. Screen went black and it no longer turns on.

Indeed. 17k btu propane heater + 2kw of electric heat and circulation fans/accessories. 

I did spend a LOT of time insulating things and plugging air leaks. Had the propane tanks filled in October and it looks like they will last until the first week of Feb, which is actually a lot longer than I expected.

I prefer to brutalize the Chris Stapleton fans.  Every time he comes to Meadowbrook for 3 nights I know I'll be flying first class when summer ends. You can charge them literally anything.
