Starting to see some very light returns on the radar between Charlotte & Richmond, and it looks like some fill in down by Jacksonville, NC.
What radar are you watching? Ty

Apparently no one else is either Even with the trends for 2.5 runs of 90% of Models Brad went backwards on our totals lol he had me in 1-2” now he’s like yea may not even see. Flake …. Ummmm
We better see white considering these crazy winds and a current temperature of 29 imby.

Idea-- stop looking at each new model as the gospel. Its snowing up and down the NC mountains this am. Not sure if that was really in the forecast. And the gulf moisture is over performing nicely. It is also trending NNE as opposed to Ne or just E. The storm isnt even supposed to crank up until the afternoon and evening so good grief... enjoy the day. And what happens happens...
Lastly it is JUST Jan 20th. We have 60days where we can see more winter wx. Cheers.

Concord is 33 and light snow falling for about an hour. We started the changeover around 830ish I guess... radar isn't showing returns from this snow though. I guess it's just too light maybe.?
-
Rain with some sleet and occasional snowflake mixing here in Concord. 35.6 currently.

34 now and Mist in Mooresville
Was curious if you were seeing any mixing up that way. 37 and just had a ten min moderate downpour. Also seeing that nasty mist here in SW Concord.

I know most of you know each other and where everyone lives... but... for those of us who don't.. any chance you could put your city when you post obs ? Thx so much.

Ashland VA...Just N or Richmond is seeing a change to snow and still 39* there. No doubt it is super cold aloft.

More like why they even issued a WWA for any of their counties at all is beyond me. It’s gonna be 70 and sunny this weekend at the rate this system is going.
Dont know...but I am still on board with this potential storm. As BP said earlier tonight... when these fronts stall down South in winter very often they surprise us!

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY issued for Union and Cabarrus Counties in NC.. and for Chester County in SC. Why GSP omitted Mecklenburg and York County SC is beyond me.

The saddest part may be that this happens over and over to the western upstate with certain setups. -The Carolina Crusher everyone gushes over was the exact same thing; complete skip job. Greenwood up to CLT big snow, NW upstate flurries. -Feb 2014 huge snow for everyone...couple inches of slop here; and I remember one spot with no accumulation at all. Other storms like Dec 2010 very little. Dec 2018 saw huge snows in NGA, NC, and Eastern upstate up to 1ft. NW upstate... couple of inches. It can be tough. And I'm actually in a much better spot than Burrel for whatever reason.
We've had some wins too; Jan 87, 88, Jan 96, Jan 2011, March 93, and this past week. But we have a ton of misses and it hard to get a big dog.
I didn't fare very well here in Concord. Snow was beautiful from apprix 2am-8am Then It was a sleet fest from 8am until it stopped. Then about a half inch of snow with the ULL. 3" TOPS all together.

Well the NAM has trended west over the last 2 runs. Euro looked good. ICON looked good. This isn't over.
Thank you voice of reason!! Too much juice for this to disappear...

It’s one thing for a storm to trend north or south… but this storm has been modeled to crush somebody for a week straight consistently… and 48 hours before go time, poof?
Was in philly(20yrs ago) and every station was calling for up to 2 FEET of snow... the storm never formed as they had forecast. Snow isnt as difficult to forecast up there. All that to say it happens... it also happens the other way around. Lived in NoDa and had a surprise 9" imby around 1998 or 99. Ballantyne had 16".. seems that may have been the yr Raleigh had over 20inches. That storm was a surprise. I will still be watching radar Friday for nowcasting

Now THAT is the Oconee Snowhole if I have ever seen it. If it ever makes it’s way into a textbook someday, they need this as a graphic.
.I would have literally admitted myself to a psych ward if that happened to me! How does that even happen! I was living in Philly during that storm but mom was living Mooresville on the Iredell/Rowan County line. She racked up 14" from that storm.

WSOC said 1" "on the high end".. hahaha the high end compared to what? I'm ready for a REAL storm. Hopefully all this cold air that keeps sinking S is setting things up for another 93 or 96.... BRING IT

I had like 4hrs of excitement regarding this storm here in Concord. I'm convinced that this can all shift back to a snowstorm for those it was showing earlier today. Is it normal for everyone to jump ship in a 4hr window of bad runs? They are talking about deleting this storm's main thread already????

I can’t tell if it’s showing 1 or 2 inches for my area (N Forsyth) but we Didn’t get enough to cover our grass. Maybe this includes freezing rain and IP?
Forsyth County NC or GA?

Isn't this typical last minute "disco" (I believe that's what y'all refer to it as)

Here in the Robinson HS area in Concord. WBTV very conservative with just 1-3" for the 77 corridor. Where are you seeing 4.5" for your area??
