Don't want the severe weather, but would love to see the better rain coverage folks to our SW are currently getting.
I'm Southwest of you and it's bone dry here. Today is looking like another dry day.

Nothing here. I ran into some heavy rain in north Raleigh, but nothing when I go up to the house. The haves and the have nots......
RAH is still banging the drums for a lot of rain this weekend into next week. I missed out on so many chances this last week, I'm at a "I'll believe it when I see" attitude.
Exactly. I'm in the same situation. I have been literally in every direction the last several days or so. I'm also of the same attitude that I will believe it when it's falling from the sky. I haven't picked up measurable rain since the second week of May.

If we get all the rain they are calling for you won’t be fishing on the Davidson river. Lol
He won't be doing anything on the Davidson.

Lol, I love neither and I hate the heat! But the fact is I had around 100 inches of rain over the past 18 months so having three weeks of dry weather has been a very welcome break for me. Now I hated the hot weather, but it was almost worth it to have some time without constant rain. It's funny, I feel like some people want several inches of rain every day or their not happy...
BTW, what is your location? I understand the lower part of the state has been much drier this year than my area.
Fair enough. The problem is while the mountains were getting lots of rain, many areas east and south of the mountains weren't getting much. Many areas already had significant deficits by the time the heat wave/drought arrived. The more droughts, the stronger and longer lasting the heatwaves are. We just spent over a week with a burn ban. Im not one of those that want deluges every day of the year, but I know how bad droughts can get here too. You guys in the mountains are so fortunate. Btw, I'm currently in Blythewood SC, about 20 miles north of KCAE.

I've really enjoyed the dry weather the past three weeks or so; a MUCH needed break for my area. Now I guess it's back to endless rain? We need a happy medium!
Seriously????? Why don't you move down here then. You can have all the drought your heart desires. I have no idea why some people love heat and drought so much....

Lost power for almost 2 hours.
2 rounds of storms, 1.60" =/-, and the rainy stuff is still a few days away! We're gonna be
Lucky you. Amazing what difference being one state to the north can do. We are getting close to a month without measurable rain here, and I'm skeptical that this pattern will produce for my area.

Another day. Another bust. Starting to think this dry spell never ends in my area.

Heck yeah. Still hasn’t rained at my house in CAE since 5/11. Got dark and windy for a time yesterday but sun was out within 30 mins. Need some rain!
Had a very light sprinkle for about 5 minutes yesterday in the Blythewood area. Some of our plants are starting to wilt from the very long period of no rain.

Sure hope it does, but I will believe it when it's falling from the sky. Parts of the Columbia area hasn't seen measureable rain in almost a month.
-
Looks like Columbia is gonna miss out AGAIN. Big line of storms developed east of here again. Stuff back in GA is looking pretty pathetic. I'm beginning to think this "wet" pattern is gonna flop big time.
-
Still no rain or storms here. Getting close to 4 weeks with no measurable rain here.

I "officially" hit 100 back to back on Wednesday and yesterday... Glad that the ridge is weakening
Me too. We just avoided triple digits here. But a nasty string of 96-98 degree highs. Still very dry.

Looks like most of SC misses out on storms today. Sigh. Guess we wait till at least the middle of next week before anymore rain chances.

Tornado warning issued for Iredell county.

Certainly worth asking if climate change is causing these sorts of forecasting failures
There is a separate forum for that. Ask that there.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2696858273677544&id=356106867752708. Robert is forecasting all time record high temps for May. Man, I wish I were in the mountains.

Finally getting a good dry stretch and some warmth! The lakes here are still an icebox.
Let's switch places then. Most areas east of the mountains are running quite dry this year, and it's been very warm too.

Robert posted on Facebook today. Heat wave looks to last at least 10 days. He's talking about temps approaching 100 from N Florida to Virginia. I hate these death ridges.

I'll be soon joining you guys in the mountains. I will sure enjoy the summers a lot more. Summers are cruel and unusual punishment if you are anywhere near Columbia. Even more if you're in Columbia.

Mid to Long Term Discussion 2019
in Southeastern States

Bingo.... This is absolutely the worst area for a weather enthusiast. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. I'm surprised you do so bad with snow considering your location. Most areas north of 85 do pretty good with snow. Looks to be another rain free day today, and our string of dry days continue. I'm quite frankly skeptical about these models showing 5-7 inches of rain in my area.
