It's not hard at all to click on other sub forums, that's not my point. The New England forum is a good example of how a vibrant forum should be. Let's say a storm is a week out (and let's face it, tracking is much of the fun of this hobby), all of us would benefit from the mets in the PHL forum posting in a string with the mets in the NYC forum and that hopefully would lead to discussions like they have in the NE forum, and real sense of community over time. Clicking on separate forums does not give you that. And, you can't justify separate forums based on distinct weather zones...as you have people from the Poconos posting here along with people from the Jersey shore. My view is that the few remaining posters in the PHL forum like it this way (stands to reason, right) and the rest of us stop by once in a blue moon or not at all. If I was king (and I'm not of course) I would have one forum covering roughly PHL to NYC and within that forum there could be separate threads for the PHL area, NYC area etc. This is how other sub forums are run, and compare the number of posters they have versus here. There is a reason for that. The split was a mistake and now hard to correct because those that would want a merger stopped paying attention. Again, just my opinion.
I'm with you on that. Why not having a Eastern Pa forum/NJ Forum, Eastern Pa being from Scranton to Phila, and NJ from the pine barrens north. to where Walt Drag resides up around Highpoint and that area, That way we stay out of NYC's banter, and can find some good meteo discussion.

No merge, but I would like to see other excellent meteoroligists from different locales chime in and give their 2 cents. Since what happens here will eventually affect their area in some way.

I totally agree with this. For Petes sake it's only Dec. 5th. Just glad to see the overpreforming dusting on the bushes and roofs the other morning. Geez, let's let things take shape !

When did ABE lose it's snow cover? how many consecutive days did they have 1" of snow cover?
The golf course out back is still completely covered. However I've never made a measure. North facing yards have probably half a foot yet. The piles in the mall parking lots like the one 2 miles from here are at least 20 feet tall and 35 feet long. It's a Kamu dream!

Allentown's monthly total is up to 38.8 inches (43.3 if you include jan. 31), which places it in 2nd place behind Feb 2010's 42.9" but ahead of Feb 2104 (36.5").
But in 2014, 44.7" fell in 32 days(jan to feb).
Total for the season: 57.3" -- just behind 2009-10 (59.8").
Now up to 58.1"

538A/6. Good morning. No threads from me on any upcoming snow for at least another day or more. Right now, any promising discussion of snow from myself, after ~ the 13th onward needs ro be reserved for the nw suburbs thread. Have no confidence on when.
00Z/6 modeling differs, with the EC-EPS overall colder than the GFS-GEFS. Yet, both ensemble systems bring snow acc of 2" or more to LI by the 20th. Part of that may be climo. So, my guess, some sort of unknown amount of snowfall is probably coming to LI in mid -late March, but when??
Walt - thought you would like to know. We just had half hour of easily moderate snow just 4 miles west of Allentown, Pa. that whitened everything up with a good dusting. Sides of roads were getting white. 32 degrees. Over now but still lots of dark clouds!

PT is not weather related> I work for Sussex County NJ as a part time engineering aide, as long as they'll have me. Guardrail, (now called Guide Rail), and bridge inspections, sometimes a bit of surveying. Have a tablet, walk the roads and bridges and do as asked-taught, much of it on my own. Fortunate to have a PT job like this. I like the outdoors and get's me more familiar with the county i grew up in.
Good luck Walt with the new endeavor. Will you be back for more posts next winter?

Walt - this month reminds me of growing up in the mid 50's just South of Elmira NY. where it would snow a little every day and never melt. Those were the good days!
