  1. From one snowmobiler to another welcome! Even though sometimes I don't understand the different weather lingo I personally like using this chat forum for guidance on an shot at upcoming snow. Seems the many knowledgeable guys on here have a great feel for winter weather and more often then not have it called for the good or the bad before the paid guys do.
  2. I grew up in Batavia and still work there. IMO Batavia doesn't do that well for LE. In most cases Wyoming County could say get 12 inches, South Western Genesee County may be at 6-8 and Batavia would be at 4 inches
  3. About 1 inch is all on my concrete patio here in Caledonia. Was really hoping for the higher end of the 1-3, but at least it looks like winter again. Go Bills!
  4. Yes, you both hit the nail right on the head. Definitely not a great place at all for a snow lover. But to be fair, I am in the North West corner of Livingston, so I'm not as bad off as the guys down in the valley.
  5. Pretty sure everyone on here would be signing in blood for this to be true.
  6. I can I can hear the fat lady warming up in the background...
  7. It's funny you mentioned that, because as I was out for a walk with the Mrs. I was just thinking about this. That our winter daytime averages were right around the freeze mark give or take a degree. Now you raise that a few here or there and we are out of the snow business all together. If 37-41 is our new winter weather I want zero part of any of that. I would love to move and chase the cold and snow to Northern Maine or something like that but realistically that won't happen. I can only hope something shifts back to cold winters while I am still young enough to care for cold and snow.
  8. Hope so, I'm beyond ready for a flip. I like everyone else is ready for the cold and snow.
  9. When are the new guidelines to be set? We definitely need to reset the parameters that our weather averages are based on.
  10. Yup doesn't look good. I didn't look at all years & months just the most recent failures as they seem most relevant in our "new winters". 15/16 &11/12 both low December snow and the rest of the season was a bust. 06/07 did not end up with a lot either if you take away the October snow. Only real modern exception is 14/15
  11. Believe it when I see the goods on the ground. Last several seasons 7-10 days out looking like a good set up only to have the rug pulled out from underneath us.
  12. I wouldn't doubt that one bit...I guess a white Christmas is too much to ask for these days.
  13. Definitely too early to be useful (snowmobiling), but I will always take snow and cold when it's offered up. At least it will look and feel like winter/December.
  14. My 1st post of the season and it's going to start out on the negative side of things. Could not agree more, I'm already getting that we are doomed kind of feeling.
  15. Yup I agree snow is pointless at this point, will just add to the mud.
  16. Big snow on top of warm muddy ground and water doesn't excite me much anymore. If anything, hoping the north country keeps cold enough and gets good snow to keep things rolling up there for possibly one last run up in March for a few bonus miles on the sleds. Other than that if we can't keep the cold with the snow I'm about all set here in WNY. I would like snow on the ground for maple weekend, then after that may as well bring on a hopefully dry transition to spring so I don't have to wipe too many muddy dog paws lol
  17. It's funny how weather is important for different reasons for different people. I would love a good synoptic storm for sure. But I care about a healthy snow pack that sticks around for weeks. I would rather get a a foot and then just keep adding vs 2 feet at once then nothing for weeks.
  18. Agreed. Who is starting to get the feeling that there will be a lot of disappointed people west the SYR? I'm betting on the 3 inches and if we get 6 that would just be having our cake and eating it too.
  19. With snow I always go with the low totals and get surprised when the higher amounts actually land on the ground.
