I don't think it will get that far south. UKMET is an outlier and it along with the other models all shifted back north at 12z. It kinda doesn't matter to us if it trends colder, just as long as it doesn't get so cold it shunts the whole thing south. Not seeing signs of that. It's not a super cold airmass.

Looks like a really solid overrunning event at the moment. Glad to not have to worry about phasing and stream interaction.

It’s definitely the most promising look we’ve had this winter for an easy 6-12”. At least in N VT. And if it plays out right it would be an extended period of snow which is always more fun. Glad you guys in NH have been making out alright lately!

  2. Might really have a melt if this next system gets shunted south and we fringe again. Unlike some of my VT counterparts I am not chill about sharing the snow and still have the PA mindset that I need to maximize every chance. I just want a large storm.

Hyde Park is a funny place and not many people know it,  surely you arent in the village.  You go up to garfield and it's another world especially with snowfall.  And temps.  Up by green river reservoir they easily get double the snow of hp village for instance.  Microclimate heaven up there.  ONly -13 in Waterbury Ctr so far

Yeah that area has some sneaky elevation and I can imagine some massive snow totals in those hills. Looked at a few houses in the area but the roads during mud season and complete lack of internet providers was a no go. Ended up with a place nearby the 100/100C junction.

  4. This is only my second full winter living in northern VT and every single synoptic storm has found a way to screw us. The southern Greens continue to get slammed in every event and the Whites are obviously better in costal setups. I thought this low going west would finally be a good one for us but nope. 6” would be amazing. The upslope is great but even that’s been less frequent than last year.

  5. Pretty great weekend. Woke up to snow Saturday morning but it warmed nicely. Today was perfect for doing some yard work. The direct sun was just enough to counteract the wind. Still no leaves but the grass is plenty green.

  6. Currently house/pet sitting for a family in Stowe on Notchbrook rd. I think the elevation is around 1100ft so maybe that will help a little tomorrow. Took the day off of work so I can sit around and enjoy what ever snow does fall lol.

Yeah that would’ve gone right over you.  I had other friends who assumed it was snow shedding off their metal roof.  I mean you hear it and your mind just assumes it’s anything but a meteor, ha.  Right at like 5:40pm.  Didn’t have a blender on or something?

Yeah I honestly have no clue. The wife doesn’t remember hearing anything either so maybe we were sheltered from it somehow. Bit of a bummer considering it’s a pretty rare phenomenon.

Ha that thing cruises right over my house on that trajectory.  Didn't see anything as we were looking southeast at the time when the noise hit.

I had no idea something like that could be so loud.  It was one of those "WTF is happening right now" moments.  Never seen my dog like that either... she was like "instinct tells me this is bad, we gotta get out of here right now."

“Heard and felt it from in the house midway between Stowe and Morrisville. Had no idea what it was!” one woman wrote.

“Heard and felt it in Waterbury, Vermont. Rattled the house and windows!” another added.

This is crazy. I didn’t hear or feel anything out my way but that trajectory is right over my place. Would have been fun to experience it!

  9. Just took a walk around the yard and there is still an average 19” snow depth. It was a relatively warm weekend but we only lost 4”. Really is going to turn into a glacier after this quick cold shot. It’s only my second winter up here but I kept feeling we were just one large synoptic event from it being a great winter. They have missed N. VT in all directions it seems so maybe it will still happen.
