I just talked to the first responders for that incident. Absolutely tragic. Those guys are riding around hotel to hotel and building to building to administer aid. Legends.

Just did a quick drive around parts of Wilmington. Hundreds of trees down. Flooding isn’t an issue here yet.

Yeah that’s not a great situation. What part of Wilmington are they if you don’t mind me asking? Maybe someone could check on them tomorrow if the opportunity arises?

I’m the DOS at the hotel. We have a lot of moving parts with power crews, news teams and emergency responders in house. We need to have staff here so the hotel can remain open for them to get their jobs done. The hotel will be fine. It’s my home I’m worried about. Not in a flood zone but this could be unprecedented.

Welp, I’ll be riding this thing out in Wilmington which looks to get a pretty awful hit. I’m in a hotel which is built to withstand the hurricane but I hope I have something to come home to.

I do sales for a large international hotel brand and I have been working with Duke Energy here in Wilmington since last Thursday to find housing for around 500 rooms starting tomorrow for 10 days. Most hotels in the area have several disaster relief groups already in house or checking in tomorrow. It looks like it’s going to be ugly here but it appears as though appropriate steps are being made in preparation.
