Thanks for the kind words. Things have never been easy for me outside this forum. This place doesn’t have all the sensory issues that I have to deal with on a day to day basis. Almost a high functioning type on the spectrum. So this way of communicating and expression really works for me. I am very, kind, quiet and conscientious. But this forum  is much a simpler for me to express myself the way my body and mind processes information. That’s why I am so passionate about underdog and disabled issues. People always asked me why I don’t have a Phd or college professor career. It was all the sensory issues that got in the way.

Sorry for your loss.  Keep fighting and enjoying the things that bring you peace and happiness.  Wishing you all the best.

Any entity that gains unchecked power whether government or corporate is doing harm. I have always been for the underdog.

Agreed.  They inevitably become corrupt and start to exploit people who have no choice but to bend to their will.

So often chilly weather hangs on in late March, so I'm glad it appears that won't be the case this year. After the brief cooldown this weekend, it looks as if we're gonna see a pretty long period of near 60 degree weather starting tuesday next week. That's great timing for starting the garden with the cool season vegetables.

I'll take it.  Not a fan of those delayed springs we've seen lately or those years where we just go right into the heat.

I want to know this too.

Could be a whole new market for these gambling apps.  Place a wager on the over/under for how many inches NYC gets next season.

  5. At least we got a little taste of what winter is like again before the end.  Was nice to at least see the grass and trees covered yesterday when the snow began to stick.  Rough season but hopefully we do better next year.  I'm ready for spring now.  Temps are going to feel good the next couple of days; upper 50's and maybe low 60's.

The GFS has been in and out for a perfect coastal storm for this time period. Would like more ensemble support but this is still in a reasonable window.

They're gonna suck us in again, aren't they?:weep:

This is very preliminary stuff driven by the inverted trough (essentially a front driven by easterly winds pushing into an area of northerly winds). The coastal storm and much heavier activity starts late tonight into tomorrow.

Thanks!  Still grasping the details of these storms.

  8. Safe to declare winter over?  My forecast shows 55 by Thursday, then high's consistently in the upper 40's to low 50's through early April.  I don't see how we get any snowfall of significance from here on in unless we get something real heavy overnight...but even if that happens, it will probably be gone within a few hours of daybreak anyhow.

it's stuff like that that makes me want humans to start controlling the weather, that would have been the first storm I'd want  to jackpot us lol.

    Nature is so frustrating sometimes.

That hype for that one was incredible.  My neighbors were watching the Weather Channel for Paul Kocin's updates and were actually becoming scared when hearing the forecast.  I worked in a ShopRite at the time while going to college and I never saw the store like that.  You literally could not move in the front end where people would get in line to check out at one of the registers.  Customers fighting for spots in the parking lot, flipping out and buying anything left on the shelf, etc.  It was a surreal experience.  The store normally closed at 9 PM on Sundays but we didn't get out of there until around midnight because it took so long to get the customers checked out and to clean up.

2000-01 was a very good winter with almost 3 feet of snow on the entire season.  The March 2001 scenario was bound to repeat at some point lol, it's why I've been talking about it for a week.

At least we were let down a little sooner this time.  I remember a lot of models showing that we were locked and loaded even within 24 hours of the March 2001 event.  I remember the worm starting to turn late on Saturday night of that weekend.  Can recall a met on WCBS 880 around 1 AM saying they might have to drastically change the forecast based on new models he was looking at...and it unraveled from there.

Happened to catch Sam Champion this morning saying this is mostly rain for all but the interior. The important take away for me is that the guy has more and better hair than he did 30 years ago....

He was always a good-looking guy but it's amazing what a little money and surgery can do.  I remember the ladies having a thing for Storm Field back in the day also.

Friday night/Saturday looks like a 1-2 inch maybe 3 inch (in spots) event especially north and west of NYC IMO. The city itself might not see much at all. Next week might possibly be more impressive?

I'll take it and move on to spring.  Given how this winter has gone and the late date, you have to be realistic.

Did New York City go below zero in March 1872 too?

Also was the March 1962 noreaster more damaging than the December 1992 noreaster?  I thought the former was bigger south of us, while December 1992 is the noreaster of record for our area and set the new surge record.

I remember some people in my family telling me that the Jersey shore got hit pretty bad by the March '62 storm.  A ton of flooding and beach erosion.
