Happy for everyone who cashed out! For those who didn’t, it be like that sometimes unfortunately. We still have 5-6 weeks left of winter down here and a lot can happen in that time frame. Just happened to be a very rare snowstorm for parts of NE GA, SC, and NC that hardly ever see any snow. I’ll admit I did think E/NE NC would get hit a lot harder, but damn that dry slot was no joke. I’ve been through many of those types of storms down here. Normally the warm nose always gets us and areas to our north and west get all the snow, this time it happened to be completely opposite and we finally cashed in. This is the first time in my life that we have had back to back winter with more than 3” in each one. Last 4”+ snowfall, minus today, was January of 2011 for us. Long time waiting! .

So who in our forum cashed out? Pics? I know most in here are from SC and NC. My aunt and cousin live in Black Mountain. How did upstate SC do? It’s super quiet in here and NE GA been carrying this forum today I feel like lol where’s the rest of the winners? .

Absolutely historic by our means haha my sister lives 30 miles west of me and they only got a light dusting. Extremely sharp cutoffs. We ended up with more than Athens, and they were supposed to get more than us. Roads actually aren’t bad because the wind was super heavy it’s been blowing around all afternoon. Mostly wet roads but not really snow covered. Tomorrow we get up to 34°, not much to melt, but by Tuesday it should be all gone. One for the ages down here and one I’ll remember forever! .

Yeah absolutely wild! I really thought most of NC was gonna be the absolute bullseye and get 6-10” statewide, and we ended up getting more snow in NE GA than a lot of NC and SC. It ended up being a true NE GA snowstorm! Our biggest snowfall since January of 2011. About 4.2” total in MBY. Snow started around 8:20 this morning and just ended now. We had 2-3 different times where we got under an extremely heavy deformation band and at one point had a white out! .

Officially 4.2” in Winder. It’s done now, we had 3 different times where snow rates were around 1” per hour. It is 5° wind chill right now and looks like you’re up in the Midwest, specifically Michigan lol man I wish I could send videos in here! .

Man your thread was about bullseye for me in NE GA. Our biggest snow since 2011 and multiple deformation bands right over MBY. I wish I could post videos in here because holy crap you would have thought it was up in Michigan or that area. This storm just sat over NE GA and bombed us. The western trend really helped us out all week and this was a true NE GA snowstorm! .

That’s insane! We got 4” and super heavy snow at times! .

My sister lives in the Norcross area, or somewhere around there, and they didn’t even get a dusting. That’s literally only a 35 mile difference from where I’m at. We definitely got in the banding and heaviest of snow over this way. We’ll finish with about 3.5” in Winder but boy it definitely felt like wa more! Everything looks so wintry and like I’m back in Michigan lol and it freaking feels like it! 6° wind chill right now. .

We’re at 3” here in Winder so far. Another 1-2” likely by 5pm. 20z and 21z shows another convection band coming our way. This is definitely a low probability storm in terms of heavy snow for us. .

Man it’s great to see you still around! Are you still in Dacula? And do you still moderate the Gon Weather Forum? I looked it up the other day but didn’t see a post for this system and I miss your write ups and how in depth we went in there! Oh man tell me about it, people west of us are so mad! I heard reports of 6.5” already up in Rabun county. Insane! I think we could still squeeze out another 1-2” by the evening. I’m gonna take a measurement around 4 and see where we stand. .

We got 2” and counting too and supposed to get another convection band sometime this afternoon. It’s thumping in downtown Athens right now. Great storm for NE GA and the heaviest snowfall since January of 2011. Insane! Hope you’re enjoying it brother! .

Yes! We got a convection band that absolutely obliterated us! It reminds me of the snow from when I lived in Michigan and it was a full white out. Supposed to have more convection bands move in over the next few hours. Definitely a great system for us in ME GA and the heaviest snow I’ve seen down here, besides my time in Michigan, which that doesn’t count lol .

Winds have been blowing the snow all over and whipping it around. .

It’s been blowing the entire time, so roadways and grass don’t look it, but yes we have an inch where I’m at right now and counting. Wind gusts are 20 mph right now and it’s blowing all the snow all over .
