I personally believe nothing is wrong with their measurements. Urban environments can do wonders to ground temperatures.
And it’s proximity to the Potomac River.

If there's a forecaster i would avoid, It's definitely DT wxrisk. That

I wouldnt avoid his forecasts, just maybe personally interacting with him... Hes a good meteorologist, just a bit conceded.

That's crazy! How much have you gotten this season vs average?
I’m sitting right about avg for the year 20” or so.

Just measured 8.5-9” in Prince Frederick. Unreal how the banding that set up was able to overcome marginal temps and March sun angle. If this was mid jan it would be feet..

Heck Yea!

Moderate snow at least in Hollywood. As soon as it went from sleet to snow, snow started sticking immediately, even on roads.

CC on radar shows pretty steady progress of the snow/sleet line. Should clear the western shores here in the next 60-90 minutes and progress across the bay. Some shallow convection showing up in echo tops already.
Oh yea, Big Giant flakes mixing in now. We have a nice coating of sleet for it to lay on!
-
Where at in Huntingtown are you Topher?
-
Yea it is starting to mix to more snow now..

Did I say east I meant west.. lol

I wouldnt worry about what NWS is saying now. We have to see how the storm develops and if we can get heavy banding to help out. I think a layer of ice and sleet is nice for the snow to stick to.

Sleeting here too, nice ice accretion from all the drizzle last night. 31.8F right now. Hoping we turn to snow within the next hour or two.
Yes! I noticed that too when I woke up this morning. I think we start seeing more and more snow mix in as layers cool.

Good Morning Fellow Southerners... Working From home today in Central Calvert County. Sleeting pretty heavily at the moment. 32f and 31 dew.

I can't measure either- its blowing and drifting everywhere. My unofficial measurement is about 4-5" so far, but don't quote me on that.
Woke up to a WSW- total repeat of 1/7/17!
My name's Jason by the way, you all don't have to call me Prince lol
Let me know what we got!? I went in to work this morning and by guessing it looked like somewhere between 4-6". Sixes Rd, Adelina, 231 and Rt. 4 were all garbage all the way up to work. Got here to Lanham and it looks like they got maybe 1"

Hoping for an overperformer! Sitting here in Calvert County wishing I didn’t have to work tomorrow or Friday because I would have packed the wife and kids up and headed to the in-laws in Bridgeville, DE! Good luck to all, I hope we’re all happy when we wake up!

Wouldn't get too discouraged just yet. We should get a decent parting shot from the deformation zone as the low deepens and moves northeast further offshore.
Man I hope you’re right!

I agree. It’s really only the extreme southern parts of St. Mary’s and Calvert where totals drastically drop as you head down. I grew up in Northern St. Mary’s county on the Charles County line and we typically did just as well as everyone near the city. It’s a huge misconception about how little snow we get. Do we get as much as the mountains or even upper Montgomery? No. But I can tell you as a native southern Marylander I’ve seen it go from 6” at my house to zippy about 15 min south of there. The One thing we typically battle with strong coastal lows is the mixing of sleet at times which can diminish overall accumulations depending on the track.
