  1. Is it just me or is there massive compaction from weight, wind and sun going on? This morning I swear my car had deeper snow on it than it does now - and it's still snowing. Also there are large areas of the street/sidewalk with like an inch due to drifting, and not nearly enough in other areas to account for 20+ inches
  2. Semi official report from Battery Park was 4.9 at 9, and I doubt they had 3/hour through 11, so...
  3. It operates under the assumption that everyone reads all the posts, but often with so many it's easier to skim... so a few people miss your post, post observations, and other skimmers see that, and so goes the feedback loop
  4. Huh. South-ish Brooklyn too but seeing rain
  5. The image is ensemble max. The mean is good, but not as as nice tbh
  6. And I bet you made alot more per hour than doing it for the city would
  7. GFS actually looks to have walked qpf back (just slightly) in NYC area, and tighter gradient
  8. 100%. Clicked because I didn't know. Most models consistently showing some sort of bullseye over central jersey coast, but his 'last call' doesn't have it. And last call my foot...
  9. Another two considerations: 30-40 inches of 10:1 snow is going to be alot of load for roofs; and it's supposed to rain later in the week, so the snow is going to soak that up. Drains will be blocked too.
  10. It looks like everything is converging on a track a little out to sea. Nw ticks shouldn't be taken as a sign of hope - they're just converging. The ones that were nw have corrected se, and the very se ones are correcting nw.
  11. Meteorologists are about as consistent as the models they use
  12. In next frame continues off somewhat. But Boston gets hit hard.
  13. Better with precipitation, but still ots
  14. honestly, if it were better than throwing a dart, they'd just update the model to account for any consistent bias in the model. ergo, there isn't that much that can be said for sure, other than that the models will move around. right now for the worse, but maybe tomorrow for the better
  15. timing is later, but still gets kicked out to sea after stalling
  16. Whoops. Nvm. At 114 pulls the low back to the coast
  17. The trend is positive. Yesterday they showed nothing! The gfs showed it friday though, lost it, and now has it back
  18. If I recall correctly, gfs had this a few days ago - it was the only one - then lost it. Good to see it coming back around
  19. Sleet in flatbush seems to have lightened considerably, almost as if getting dry slotted here.
  20. Almost all sleet now, Flatbush.
  21. I'd think you'd want it on a thick layer of fluffy stuff. Then you can just smash through the top layer instead of it being glued to the pavement. Same for cars, you want a buffer between your car and the sleet/rain mix
