Still just flurries here in Fairfax and under 2 inches... off to Costco and Wegmans to do some shopping.
Hope I can make it...
-
Flurries, don't know the temperature, maybe 1.5" in Fairfax.
-
Nothing unexpected from this storm with a B-like more northerly evolution... we've all seen it before, despite the concern expressed by neighbors to the north who live in different climates.
My only regret this year is not buying an epic pass so I could enjoy some real snow.

can you imagine anyone who loves snow living in Fairfax
It's practically Old Town. Total disaster.

Drizzle in Fairfax.

Pouring rain at 33... maybe flood watch will verify?
-
Wet rain continues... making it hard to see out my window.
-
That sleet line is jamming north now; family just turned over in Sterling.
-
Mostly rain now, took about 30 mins to transition over here.

Sleet and rain now in Fairfax.

I grew up in Sparta, stop posting here!

90% sleet now, got about an inch+ of snow. Better than my old snowhole though in Alexandria which looks like zilch as usual.
-
Going over to sleet now in Fairfax, bit of a mix.
-
Just having our burst of huge flakes... sleet about 1 mile away according to traffic cams.

Wow. The secondary roads in Mclean caved on a dime. Plows came by and covered right back up. Showing 31 degrees
Hooray for December sun angle. Still riding the line here in southern Fairfax, melty flakes, sleet close by... getting close to an inch at 420 feet.

-SN but seeing signs of warming a bit upstairs with a mix of tiny and large flakes... riding the line I think at this point.
-
Loud sleety flakes in Fairfax at a light rate, expect things to pick up in about 20 minutes.
-
Flurries in Fairfax last ten minutes or so.... hope we can hold onto the sleet for a bit longer than expected.

Thought the same thing...maybe records go back further for the cities than IAD?
Yes, IAD only goes back to like 1962 or something close to that.

Bullish for DC. Also, why is Little River Turnpike treated like a highway on that map. Can't trust it.

I’m definitely not one to defend @H2O but it has to be extremely annoying and frustrating when people think they know your climate better than you and on top of it a large majority of the forum gets a lot more snow than you. I would be cranky as hell.
I'd not bother posting about Old Town Alexandria climo or conditions back in the day because the times I did and claimed profiles were going to be too warm despite the models, or it was 35 and rain when it was snowing in Chevy Chase, didn't turn out well. Either way, this storm isn't going to perform in my 'hood here in Fairfax. That's OK. I could drive to a family home in east central PA but I won't because I don't want to bother putting my winter wheels on my car. A positive of little snow here. Not worth it.

Never made it over 3 inches here anyway.
