  1. I said well over a month ago that this winter, around here, was going to come down to one quasi-decent event in March, when the temps are marginal, and people would be doing victory dances.  Here we are lol.

Finally some light at the end of the tunnel. Some coastal storms finally showing up in the LR it's better than them showing just more and more cutters. I have to imagine that at least one of these are going to materialize. gfs_mslp_pcpn_frzn_eus_52.png

I wouldn’t imagine anything at this point lol

No one should have expected that when we lost all of Dec and most of Jan. After you lose a full winter month in Dec, it’s time to adjust forecasts and expectations. Shame on anyone who thought an epic winter was enroute after losing Dec

Yes, that would be a reasonable approach to stop beating the drum when it becomes clear it’s not going to happen.  Love this post.

The Northeast Regional Climate Center released this graphic earlier this month showing the Dec 1 - Jan 15 departures from normal showing a slight deviation from normal temperatures.

Love that little 4+ right over me.  I’ve felt every bit of it lol

Some people dont believe me but I had literally 1 snow day going to school in Providence from grade 7 to graduating HS (87-93).

Sure there was a weekend storm here and there, and it snowed more up in Greenville where we lived, but the pattern was definitely warm and often wet. It all changed once I went to college (it was a pounding for several years in the mid 90s) but when you are a kid you dont tend to misremember not having snow days!

Long Island was the same way.  You couldn’t buy a sizeable snowfall. Meanwhile, 20 miles north of the city it was winter wonderland in perpetuity. So frustrating

Are you talking just for snow?....this low could go over SE MA and you would't sniff freezing in this setup....but you might be ice and not snow at that point.

I’m talking rain vs freezing rain. That’s the biggest difference in my mind.

Sorry about the move away from the devastating zr.  Maybe some, but this will be more notable as a big 'end of the curse' storm with lots of snow and IP.  At least for most of us.  Lap dances at the Blue will continue unabated.

Still seems like it flips for a lot too.  I’m trying to see what the big change is. A hair slower and a hair suppressed? At 5 days out?

I’ve thought this for days, at least down here. It’ll be a brief burst of snow and sleet over to rain.

Ice never materializes here, not expecting it to start now

Seems like whenever there’s a warm solution along the way, that’s how it ends up.

I know it was over 100 years ago but storms don't care about exact time frames or semantics.  1886 would be horrendous today.

I understand.  Just that it’s not like it just happened and now we’re saying it could happen again. Clearly that’s rare but no reason to think it couldn’t reoccur.
