I have a camp there.  I plan to skip the first big weekend.  Lots of first timers out with 850s who will make mistakes.  Will try midweek riding more often this year.

Once I graduated high school, 18 yrs ago I swore I’d never weekend ride up there again. All mid week riding, the difference was amazing...

Things look good for at least a moderate snowfall out this way, but there are oddly few of us in ENY on here.  Meaning east of Utica, and in the Albany-Glens Falls corridor.   I think I remember there being more of us in the old Eastern US weather board.  There's little point in celebrating alone, lol.  ALB, Saratoga, and the eastern Mohawk Valley down to BGM look to do OK, as far as Upstate is concerned.  Maybe areas up to the Thruway corridor can hopefully get something decent out of it too.

    What happened to Logan?

Blink. I’ve been happy with it. Mainly got it to see the snow at home while I’m working but has been handy to see deliveries etc. Can’t believe someone stole your dog, but glad you got it back!

15.3° this morning, lowest yet by about 10°.

Thanks! It is a sucky move but to top it off we (well at least me) am 100% confident it was my one and only immediate neighbor. Even more odd is we were always on good terms the entire 10yrs I’ve been here...

Buy he’s the only one that would’ve reasonably known we weren’t home despite cars being in the driveway. Then he told me he wasn’t home but in Rochester and he left at 7 but were home at 630 and he and my dog were already gone. I saw my dog hair on him and in his car (he has no dogs)and rochester was where my dog was found. 34 miles away.... didn’t mean to go on but I’m still peeved about it all...

I've been trying to find a product that doesn't involve a monthly/yearly subscription but it seems they all do? Blink, Ring, Nest, etc..

The way I understand it is you can have a subscription and save in the cloud or you can use a usb/flash drive and store it yourself. After the 3 free months that’s what I’m planning to do. By using the “local” storage, if I remember right you lose the instant access to videos...

  5. 3rd from right standing behind the guy with the peace sign is the Erie cty executive whose been preaching the mask and bashing Trump ...

he then tweeted out it was a lapse in judgement but claimed the health dept says you’re ok to stand next to someone for up to 10 minutes before it’s an issue if I remember correctly...

kinda like when Cuomo went to Georgia  don’t have and hugged people and claimed since he was there last then 24 hrs he couldn’t get it

Visiting family. My girls dad lives in Laramie. Awesome awesome place to visit and am considering moving here once my sons adoption goes through (could be a year or more still). Elevation in the town and his house 8 miles north is 7200 feet but just West (20 mi) is the Snowy mountains which we went up yesterday to 12,000 feet. Just East (less than 10 miles) is the Laramie Mountains and Vedauwoo  Which is over 9000 feet and has absolutely awesome rock features. The mountains out here blow any of the mountains out east out of the water. We only went up to Mirror Lake which is at 10,800 feet or so but there was still plenty of snow left up there and you could feel how much thinner the air is up there. There are so many things to do here with camping in Medicine Bow National Forest, 4 wheeling through the mountains, and great fishing on the reservoir and Alpine lakes at nearly 10,000 feet.

Throw in no state income tax and my father in laws $300,000 house only pays $1400 a year in taxes how could you not want to live here?

I’m seriously considering that move as well. I’d like to be out there in the next 5-7 yrs, but will see. I’m hoping to be  further west, ideally south of Jackson but real estate is big money out there.
One thing to be aware of in that area is that the Laramie area can be crazy windy. I’ve been looking down through the front Range of Colorado and the wind is a common theme at least down past Denver but not all the way to Colorado Springs.
I found a nice bedroom community nw of the springs but Colorado doesn’t enjoy the same benefits of Wyoming.

What is the job situation there?

That’s a major sticking point for us currently, Laramie maybe better. Jackson is limited, focused on tourism/hospitality. Do think it might be better for my gf who works with animals, if the right job came up within Teton park or Yellowstone it would certainly help my cause.

The job situation is what pushed me into looking into Colorado. I could live in the mtns outside the springs but be to a major metro area for work/play in half hour. Was hoping to get out there and look at the area this summer but Covid squashed that.

Hit up 2 more high peaks this last weekend. Now up to 15!

We were up there from Saturday til yesterday... good for you!! we drove up Whiteface and hiked the cobble lookout next to it.. that was good enough for me.

it’s nice up there for sure but I was kinda disappointed in the area in general..Covid shutdowns didn’t help. Only one place open for breakfast yesterday in all of lake placid.. i guess I just like the actual rocky aspect of the mountains out west versus the green tree filled mtns  up there...

Been a bitch of a couple weeks lol I originally had an apartment in Adams NY but some maintenance issues postponed it until mid month which was to late, then I found a nice house for rent on the water in sackets harbor, I go to move in Friday and the place was infested with fleas!! Like WTF lol Luckly I got out of that lease pretty quick..So I was lucky enough to contact the Copenhagen apt complex over the weekend and get the apartment on a SHORT TERM lease...lol I bring that up because that's the bad new here, most likely will be out of here before winter  But the good news is the old lady has done a complete 180 on her desire to move out of NY State, could start the loan process within the next month or so..I think we'll be looking around C/N Oswego county between Mexico/parish/Pulaski..So yeah that's the Wolfie update for this week lol

    Cheers..

Nws BUf is looking for a weather spotter in Osceola...

I’m reluctant to make this political but I think we are seeing what happens when an anti science guy withno appetite for learning is confronted by a global health crisis.
A situation like this can make or break a politician. It might be old news by November but I’m starting to think the economy is gonna take a while.
Im still buying stocks. IVV SAN and QQQ today.

Idk the first thing about the market but i just made a appt with Brighton securities for later in the week to try and get an understanding on my options

  10. Hey guys... gf and I have started exploring CO as a possible spot to relocate to...(previously had been Wy but just don’t see that working out)

anyways curious on the weather in the woodland park, larkspur, woodmoor,CO springs block...Will take other options these areas just seem to best fit most of our criteria..Btw no kids or plans for them so schools are of no concern.

I know that WLP is the most remote and highest thus the most extreme in terms of winter.

I’ve read elsewhere that there are some crazy hail storms in parts of CO but no one gives specifics or is it the whole state? I’ve also seen it mentioned many areas along the front range are prone to flooding. Again is this everywhere or specific spots?

Is there a lot of wind in the area given the location to the mountains?

Ideally we want rural-ish(10-15k people) but within 45 minutes to Denver/COS. Summer temps maxing out 75-80 w/o the east coast humidity(Ive read the humidity wont be an issue )I’d like something in the 100”/yr snow territory.
    Any other area tidbits welcomed.

I can attest. Made it home safely to my family 4.5 hours from Jersey. Glad I chose the route I did. Roads not too bad but the fog was unreal at times.

Enjoying a very tasty cold IPA as a reward and to calm my nerves!  Then some rest for the show tomorrow!

Looks like you made out good then... good deal!

    So I have two choices.

1). Don’t drink at my client dinner event in NJ tonight and drive home from roughly 9-1AM after a 5 hour energy (keep in mind I get up to workout at 4:30 and did so this AM)

2). Grab a few hours of sleep and set the alarm to drive home to Skaneateles between say 3-7AM.

what say ye my fellow trusted weather brethren?

I’d be tempted to try the 9 run... tho I think you mentioned rt 41 and that wouldn’t be my road of choice in the dark and a snow storm
