It wouldn't take much to bring strong winds into the region and if he lives in Brooklyn he might be susceptible to coastal flooding.

The 06z GFS which was pretty far offshore still brings near TS force winds to the Eastern end of Long Island. The Euro brings those winds much further West. Still a wait and see.

Thanks, I am in Sea Bright, NJ (just below Sandy Hook) which is one of the most vulnerable areas in NJ for coastal flooding, so I will start paying attention.

And HMON right on top of their positions -- remarkable agreement.

EDIT: And the HWRF also in virtually the exact same spot  -- slight timing differences, but tracks are the same.

St Mark's bullseye. Wonder if the lighthouse survives.

  3. My son is a sophomore at FSU. How long was city paralyzed because of Kate---how long did power outages last?  We were without power 17 days for Sandy but that would be brutal in Tally with August/early September heat.

  4. My son is at Florida State and they have been very good with the updates---he lived through Hurricane Sandy and 17 days without power -- hopefully the power outages aren't that bad.  St Mark's nature preserve is going to get hammered.
