I saw my first one during the spring migration at the Jones Beach West End. Brown Pelicans are becoming more common along the South Shore.

Saw a couple about 15yrs ago just outside jones inlet and looked like some more this year at the west end of the boardwalk just off shore, but they were a little too far to be definite.

It's too late for that now. But portions of the Long Beach barrier island that were build high enough didn't experience flooding in Sandy. The Long Beach barrier island was actually a collection of several smaller islands. It took a major dredging operation over 100 years ago to build a single island with fill. But the elevation was still left too low in many areas.
Thats why Reynolds channel is so deep in spots and parts of merrick and bellmore

But you don't seem to like hot summers, and I love those, because I'm a big numbers guy and I enjoy watching the temps reach for 100, the same way I enjoy watching a 20 inch snowstorm lol. I love temperature extremes (both hot and cold) and precipitation extremes (rain, snow and even ice) and wind extremes.
I was going to start a topic on this earlier, but I didn't know if anyone had the right answer for this- but where in the country is the best place to be to experience 20 inch snowstorms in the winter and 100 degree heat in the summer?
Right where pam lives i think one of the Dakotas was voted worse weather in the US.

I remember that well, my neighbor didn't stop raving about it for days afterwards. That was a year or so before I started going there because they didn't like my fake id
I remember that too. I also remember some of the incredible shows the club in Island Park used to get when we first moved to O'side in 1970. Most of the really great stuff, The Doors, Grateful Dead was slightly before that but until ~73 that place killed it.
She used to live in Rockville Center right at the edge of the RVC Country Club. Nice house
