Hiked up and summited Cannon this morning slightly before 7:30. Absolutely spectacular, cloudless and deep blue . Skied Upper Cannon to Middle Cannon over to Extension and then down Zoomer. Had to take my skis off 4 times I think and walk probably a total of 30 yards. The top of the mountain is loaded with snow. Around the summit, there is easily 3-4 feet of snow in the woods. Upper Cannon was nice where the sun had softened up the snow. Middle Cannon was shaded, hard and icey. It is a horrible trail anyway. Extension and Zoomer had been in the sun for a good long time and both were fantastic. Skiing the top of zoomer and looking down to a glistening Echo Lake with a few boats on it was cool.

That's probably it for me. I doubt I will get to Mount Washington.

Profile/Cannonball looked great by the way...if I had time, I just go up there and lap it one of these nice upcoming afternoons.

Took the dog up and he seemed to enjoy himself.

visited Mt. St. Helens a few years back. So impressive.

You should looked into a wireless internet provider. A point to point link could be available in your area - 

they shut T4T down last year or year before...there is an archive out in the cloud somewhere.

It has to be 5 or 6 weeks ago, they asked that people behave responsibly and the ravine was a crap-show so they moved in barriers all along rt 16. A friend was riding his motorcycle up there last week and said, any and all parking spaces and turn-outs are now blocked. The National Forest has closed most if not all their trailhead parking spots throughout the white mountains.

Nope. My son went up to move some furniture so I stayed home. I saw some video this am on Twitter, happy I didn't attempt. Temps - no biggie, those winds miserable.

anyone driven thru franconia notch and taken a look at snow coverage at cannon? I'm thinking that I may go up there Saturday in the snow - and ski down from summit - if there is good coverage and a few other things fall into place.

I've wondered how much the lack of skier traffic has contributed to retention. I check the Sugarloaf webcams daily, you can ski the entire mountain. PF has said same of Stowe. I wish the Wildcat base cam was on but I'm sure they are loaded given what you see at BW. Just crazy.

@borderwx do you live in Holland. Always wanted to get up there, have family from 19th century from there. 

Not sure if I had mentioned this on my entry about skiing Tremblant in early March but I was surprised to see BV from 89S on our way back. It gave me a different perspective of where BV is located. 

I've commented in NNE thread (I think) that I go to the sugarloaf webcam almost everyday. Until this weekend all but the base cam was shut down. It is wall to wall there right now. For Sugarloaf to be honest, I'm not sure if we've had enough 'nice' days to make for a good spring season. i look occasionally at the superstar at killington and it remains loaded with snow.

The Sugarloaf webcams went on today - they have only had the base cam on continuously. Still wall to wall on mountain. The cam at top of Cannon that looks out onto Franconia Ridge showing lots of snow and ice.

I saw that and went to their website - they have very detailed instructions and guidelines for purposes of social distancing. Looks like golf courses are reopening in California.

A sign of the Spring, after a second work day, yard at lake is ready for Memorial Day. Literally, two weeks before I can ever remember the place cleaned up which is probably a function of available time and weather. Bugs were out today , not last weekend. An unscientific survey on RT. 3 Tilton at 130-2PM, only 1 in 25 cars had out of state plates.

50 minutes of nordic skiing this morning in a playing field adjacent to my house. Classic style but I've been out maybe a half dozen times on my roller skis since my last skinny ski at Tremblant six weeks ago. I was gliding on a lot wet grass at times - we got about 2" of compacted snow. 

What a great winter - events early and late.

Until recently had the opportunity to get to Hancock/Houghton 2-3 times per year. Knowing I would not be back, I drove up to Calumet this Fall - only 25 minutes or so north of Houghton. The UP of Michigan is beautiful and Marquette - about 90 east - is a bit of a hidden gem. Calumet is a once prosperous town that has been decline for easily 80 years. It was amazing to drive down the main drag surrounded by 100+ plus year old, once elegant brick buildings that are all now in some form of disrepair. Winters are amazing up there although I avoided them at all cost because airports close for extended periods in the winter due to weather, et cetera. Mount Bohemia ski area at the top of the peninsula was always on my to-do list! 

Yeah, my relatives in Poland did not have power yesterday. The amount of out of state utility trucks on turnpike was crazy.

@tamarack do you have power? My bro-in-law has been in your area with an out-of-state line company.

Went up to Meredith this morning and raked leaves for almost 7 hours - never seen so many acorns from two oak we have - when the sun went behind the clouds, temp dropped by 10 degrees. Ragged Mountain was covered in snow this morning. There was snow on Gunstock mountain too.
