  1. +10.3C this night at 4:30, incredible! Almost +15C in Haines Junction with gusts up to 114 km/h. This storm and warm snap was very strong, and several records may have been broken. Now, we have heavy snow and -2.3C.
  2. Hello everybody, The cold snap is now over with -15.3C this morning. It was quite long with temperatures below -10 since Nov 13. Here is a picture I took of the Takhini River, which is now completely frozen in the area: For theforecast, this week should be mild with possibly highs over zero.

  4. Good morning, Low of -26.9C this morning, temperatures ranging from -37 to -13C on the territory. We had a northern lights show this night around 2:00: For the forecast, some flurries today and tomorrow with high around -18C.
  5. There is a small dam on this lake, and I just wonder if it does not explain why it never freezes. Just a guess !

  7. Good morning everybody, Today, low of -28.1C, we now have -24.3C with some light snow. Lows between -40C (Dawson) and -22C (Old Crow) in the territory this morning. It warmed up, but we will keep the cold all the week (apart here in around Wednesday and Thursday). Here are some pictures I took yesterday around Fish Lake (between -32 and -36C): It was between 2:30 and 4:00 in the afternoon at sunset. You can see some ice crystals fog patches, a sundog, the creek never freezes.
  8. Hello, I wear several layers. Dow to -30C, I usually wear warm underwears + a warm jacket (Canada Goose) and lined trousers + 2 pairs of sockets + warm boots + hat. Below, I add a sweater. This afternoon, we got -24C, we hiked in the Fish Lake area. It was magic, with ice crystal and temperatures ranging between -32 and -36C. I will post some pictures tomorrow.
  9. Good morning everybody, Cold is here with a low of -38.9C in Hidden valley. On the territory, at 9:00 we had: -45C in Beaver Creek (dayly record), -43 in Haines Junction (dayly record, windchill of -46C) and Mayo, -41 in Carmacks and Dawson, -39 in Mayo and Faro, -36 in Burwash (windchill of -46) and Watson Lake, -34 in Teslin (windchill of -43) -29 in Whitehorse (windchill of -42) We now have some ice crystals: Today should be sunny, and a bit windy with a windchill close to the -40s.
  10. As promised, here are some pictures I took this afternoon (by -30/-31): This evening, a lot of temperatures are already below -30C, here we have -29.5C at 6:30. The night may be frigid if the sky stays clear.
  11. Even colder this morning with -44 in Beaver Creek and -40 in Dawson, a lot of temperatures between -31 and -37, but only -26C here in Hidden Valley. It may be colder tommorrow morning before it warms up with some snow.
  12. Yes, you are completely in the cold air, here in Yukon we are at the border. Old Crow however got -41.8C yesterday morning and we got -28C here this morning. The interesting fact here, in Hidden Valley, was the snowfall. We now have 28 cm on the ground.
  13. Good morning everybody, -15.3C actually, 19 cm on the ground, 2 cm snowfall since yesterday. We should get light snow all the day, tomorrow should be much more snowy and we ay be able to reach the 30 cm on the ground by Thursday morning. I cross the fingers. Temperatures ranging from -15 to -35 in the territory, with colder temperatures coming on Thursday. Here are some pictures of the Takhini River freezing up:
  14. Next week will indeed be interesting ! The first cold wave of this 11-12 winter, we should be close to the -30's here, -40's near Dawson.
  15. Good morning, 3 cm snow, snow on ground of 18 cm. We have -7.1C and pressure as low as 975.2 hPa (record of the station). We expect a bit more than 5 cm snowfall by tomorrow morning.
  16. Good morning, 15 cm on ground this morning, I am very happy ! This now looks like winter: GFS/Wxsim also expects an additionnal 10 cm for this night and tomorrow. Around the territory, temperatures are raging between -8 and -20C, snow in the south. Temperatures will start to fall down on Monday, -25/-30 may be expected for Wednesday/Thursday.
  17. You're right Chinook !<br>Perfect timing, snow first and then cold wave ! I started to follow it two days ago, and really appreciate the arrival of colder conditions. I really think that I could reach the -30's, some areas of the Yukon should get -35/-40 with clear night conditions. I will let you posted !
  18. Good morning from Yukon, Wow, great storm in Bering Sea. any damages reported? In Hidden Valley we had -14.5C this night, now -11.6C which is 6C colder than at the airport. We are expecting some snow by lunch, snowfall should reach about 10 cm from now to saturday morning. Much colder conditions should reach us next week with Lows down to -25/-30 and low highs of -20C. I like this one for next Wednesday: It may be our first cold wave of the winter, EC, GFS and ECMWF should agree on its arrival, looking now for its strength... -20C for sure, -30C???? Starting tomorrow, we should also get some snow, it will be a pleasure while snow on ground is very poor (between 0 and 3 cm). This morning, we have temperatures ranging from -11 and -30, now -13.6C in Hidden Valley, around -15C before sunset. Have a great day !
  20. Good morning, I am back after two weeks off in Vancouver. We have -8.5C actually, with temperatures ranging between -29 and -3 in the Yukon. Some snow and colder temperatures are expected for this week. Winter seems to be late compared to 2009 and 2010, but I still expect it to be colder than normal. Wait & See !
  21. I do not know anything about the BC climate .... living north to 60s.... Today we got some snow during the night and then a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 5.1C and wind blowing from south. Upcoming days should be cooler and dry.
  22. Hello everybody, We have -5.9C this morning after a mild and windy weekend. No more snow on ground on south slopes. We should get a high of +3C today, Tuesday and Wednesday should be cold and snowy for Wxsim/GFS (mix of rain and snow for EC). Have a great day !
  23. Hello everybody, -3.9C this morning. It is pretty mild when you consider a sky perfectly clear and no wind. Lows between -14 and -1 on the territory, as far as I remember it is the first time all the temperatures are below zero this season: Temperatures Yukon Temperatures will be mild for the upcoming days, and snow on ground should be away by the end of the week.
