Not sure i ever remember hearing a snow squall warning before...at least around these parts.

I can tell you that the streams and rivers are rising quickly up this way..water has no where else to go with the frozen ground..keep an eye on your basements as well.

It started to creep above freezing here, made it to 32.2, now it is back down to 31.7 with rain moving back in....so much ice on the trees, need that to melt before the wind picks up!
The northern part of trumbull has a lot of ice on the trees..the southern part near me has very little..only a mile or 2 makes a huge difference..34 here

Car reads 34 deg here..rain

RS can you or someone else explain to us / me why the line would retreat south, I don't get it ? Thanks in adnvance
I'm no expert, but if that new low in eastern va did become the primary and moved n/e toward the benchmark, we would remain on the cold side of the storm and our winds would go to n an n/easterly and the 850's would crash back south eastward and we would be in for a good snowstorm...but unfortunately that is not the case with this system...hope that makes sense to you

Upton just hoisted flash flood watches for the coast, NYC, LI Southern CT etc
We'll take the rain this time but one big blizzard will make up for it...i think we will have some decent chances for a good snow event in the next few weeks...but a flash flood watch in mid january does suck..

I hope I get 4 to 8 on the SW CT coast.
I would be shocked if we got that much..but we'll see

Just to put a positive spin on this storm, at least the pattern going forward appears cold and stormy which doesn't guarantee anything, but better than warm and rainy..

I live in Long Island and I was wondering why the asphalt outside turned white so quick. I guess car bringing that stuff from the city on their tires?
Up here in ct they put a pre-treatment liquid down on the roads...dries and turns white..it eats through metal on cars faster than rock salt...not sure if it;s an equitable trade off

Have to lol at the irony of the CMC going from most amped/NW model for quite some time, to now being of the further SE albeit still quite a ways off for us.
A hundred miles further s/e and hmmm...nothing would surprise me....believe me this is better to at least be somewhat in play unlike the 80's which except for 83 sucked big time...

Agreed I think many are forgetting about the flash freeze...
For example no joke I accidentally spilled coffee on my car window yesterday morning and it’s immediately froze and the temps were only 20 degrees... what do you think will happen will temps dropping from 30-40 to single digits..
A lot of car doors and windows frozen shut...

Is there a possibility in any of these snow squalls to get any Thunder that you would normally see in the summertime when a cold front comes through and get the thunderstorms?
