  1. Thank you to everyone who responded - I guess I should start looking for a place to stay...
  2. Supposed to fly home from Italy on Sunday, landing in Boston around 10 PM. Is our flight likely to be canceled?
  3. I think the biggest lesson I learned from this eclipse is to just book the hotel room for 1 more night and stay put after the eclipse. It is much easier getting to an eclipse than getting out of it! It took us 6 hours to drive from Nashville to Louisville (about 175 miles). After that the traffic opened up, but we were so tired, we couldn't keep going very long and stopped at a hotel in Lafayette, IN around midnight. Traffic was fine the next morning.
  4. And here is my one and only attempt at the diamond ring photo JUST after totality ended...
  5. We had an amazing view in Hendersonville, TN! There were some scattered cumulus in the area. One random cloud completely covered the sun for a few minutes (about 20 minutes before totality), but that cloud moved on and we were totally in the clear the rest of the time! It was a very surreal feeling to look up at the sun and see a black disk. And Venus was so bright!! I told myself that I would just soak in the atmosphere and not worry about taking pictures during totality, but about a minute into totality I decided I needed to get a few pictures, so I took some hand-held shots of the corona. I'm glad I did - they actually came out way better than I expected they would! I know i can easily download photos that are way better, but these are MY photos of MY view haha
  6. Staying in Belleville tonight, driving to Nashville early Sunday morning... not sure where we will watch the eclipse, but our hotel is in Hendersonville. Worst case we just watch from there...
  7. I was hoping there would be a very clear target by now, but it still looks like a crap shoot across most of the country. I wish I could make it out to Oregon LOL.
  8. I'm still trying to decide between NE, MO, and TN. MO would be awesome because I have a brother near St Louis. But I want to head to the highest percentage chance of clear sky. We're flying out to Chicago this evening and then just winging it from there.
  9. Flying from Boston to Chicago Friday night (mostly because of the super cheap flight), and driving from there. First target choice is St Louis area (since my brother lives there). If that looks really bad, we will probably head for either Tennessee or Nebraska, whichever looks best.
