Channel 9 got burned on a bunch of these type events last year where models showed snow then it ended up raining most of the time and we were lucky to get 2-4" of slop. I get the feeling this will bump north at game time and we'll be in rain.

I enjoyed the mood snows all day today. While it didn't add up to much, just walking outside while it snowed quietly all day was really pleasant. Some people on this forum need to remember to get outside and actually enjoy this thing we're talking about on here. It was a pleasant winter day out there with constant snow! Not bad for November...

Feb 15 was actually quite the anamoly. Coldest month ever in Syracuse. We got snow pretty much every day and at one point had over 25 inch snowpack for weeks. Quite memorable and cold

Kind of cool how they put the snow level in the forecast. Wasn't planning on bringing my winter coat but with winds and temps in 40s I may have to.
Thursday NightA chance of rain showers before 3am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Snow level 13700 feet lowering to 8300 feet after midnight . Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. Chance of precipitation is 30%.FridayA chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Snow level 8000 feet rising to 13600 feet in the afternoon. Partly sunny, with a high near 63.Friday NightA slight chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 13100 feet lowering to 8300 feet after midnight . Partly cloudy, with a low around 36.SaturdayA slight chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 8200 feet rising to 14300 feet in the afternoon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Breezy. In mid-August 2005 we tent camped with my parents in the mountains in Jasper National Park in Alberta. We had rain all day and went to our campsite at about 6000' where it turned to straight up slush snow. First time experiencing snow in August - awesome experience...for me at least. Not sure everyone else in camp appreciated it lol

Some people have the nerve to say global warming isn't real. The west coast is done for. The freezing level was higher than all the mountains out there. Glaciers are essentially completely gone in the southern US. The mountain tops with snow all year in the west are likely gone soon as well. Over 100 degrees in the northern cascades...literally insane. It would be like Buffalo hitting 110 degrees this summer when the highest we've hit is 99.
It's nuts, but then again we've been warned about this for decades now. Heading to Iceland next week for the 2nd time in 5 years. Should probably enjoy those glaciers before they're gone too.

Been amazing weather. Could use some rain, streams for fishing have been at mid-summer flow.

I don't expect international travel to commence until at least 2022, and most likely summer of 2022. Just going through some travel forums, quite a few places in Europe just went back into lockdown, Auckland NZL did too. I don't expect travel into NZL until 2023. The canadian border isn't even open yet, and don't expect it to be for at least a few months. as Ontario just went into another month long lockdown. The vaccine rollout in America is the best in the world right now. We may not have universal healthcare, but man if we all work together we can get things done quick.
My girl and I just got back from Costa Rica. We flew Delta out of SYR. Tickets were great and Covid protocols well adhered to. Costa rica was beautiful with everything open and all the locals and most tourist wearing masks. Did have to buy travel insurance to get in the country (about $40pp) and take a covid test on way back for entry into the US (about $100). Felt nice to itch that travel scratch again.

It's official, I'm giving this winter a solid B or even B+. I've learned that I don't need months of cold and snow, just one 4-6 week period where it doesn't thaw once and we build a solid snowpack. Sprinkle in a few decent synoptic events, a little lake effect, and I'm happy as a clam. It's been hard coming to terms with the fact that its all ends starting today. I felt about as happy as I have in a long time yesterday and I think a lot of had to do with all the winter fun I've been having the last few weeks. If only we could have kept this going for another 2 weeks I would have given this winter an A. So it's not about huge storms for me, or even a ton of snow, I just need consistent winter weather. Never thought this year would have scratched the itch the way things started, but I'm sure glad we turned it around.
I'll be interested to see how long it takes to melt the 15" pack I have right now. After playing in snow all day yesterday I think it'll hang around for quite some time. It's incredibly dense stuff, must be 3-4 SWE. We shall see.Totally agree. Got a few days skiing in Vermont last week, conditions were great and it was awesome seeing and having this pack for a good month or so and not having to worry about it melting every few days. Snowmobilers have been loving it too.

WSB told me to hold my 12.25 shares until they are worth least 1K each. Even now has been a healthy profit from an initial $200 investment. They're pimping BB and NOK now too. It's like 1998 all over again...

Just a reminder.. Winter is already cancelled like I said few times so why keep tracking for snow storm when you know it will never come.
And you cancelled last summer in May and we saw how that turned out...

Not my words. But it wasn’t that at the beginning. At the beginning it was subtle.
I’ll say that if a lawsuit happens due to forced tests by Cuomo I’ll be opting in.
keep in mind that it’s now different than what you did, testing is now mandatory for essential employees. You're such a clown. Glad Trump won in a landslide so bigly just like you told us he would. Save your Trump flag for when coke snorting Jr. runs in 4 years.

Its gonna be a very cold rain for most of us on this forum from Thursday into Thursday night and then we may see some dynamics come into play depending upon how strong the SLP gets. Perhaps we'll see a changeover to plain snow early morning Friday beforeit quickly goes back to rain. Its a strung out mess before it gets even close to us then starts to get its act together once it redevelops off the coast and heads for the benchmark so I know this weenie isn't getting his hopes up.

I did a few drone montages on some of the fall scenery in CNY. Very nice this year. Was up in New Hampshire last weekend - also great stuff going on up there. Did end up with 2 ticks on me after a quick jaunt in the woods today near Skaneateles. Crazy how much more common that is now than when I was a kid growing up.

This is amazing. What settings did you use for this? What camera?
Canon 5D Mark IV. 24-105mm L lens. About 4 second exposure, 800 ISO, F 5.6. Remote controlled on a tripod so you don't get mirror shake.

What time did you take these pictures? I went out around 4:30 and couldn’t find the comet but it may have already been too bright. I assume that is Venus to the right, which I saw. Venus is right in the middle of the Hyades, an open cluster of stars in Taurus. The Pleiades are right above it.
Early. 4am or maybe even a bit before. It's best when Venus starts rising and before you even get the hint of sunrise. Once it hits 415-430 it's all over because of ambient light.

Comet NEOWISE looks nice in the east ( to the left and lower than Venus). Check it out around 4 am. Took these shots outside of Baldwinsville.

It’s grim. Not much of a chance of rain for the next 7-10 days, either. 90s and high humidity is not the kind of weather that makes summers in Buffalo so enjoyable. The lake is way above normal temps as well - I expect we will be hitting record lake temps by mid-month, which will really weaken the lake breeze.
I think we'll be seeing a lot more of this over the next decade.

Upstate/Eastern New York-Into Winter!

Probably a quick jaunt up 81 and I could still get to a winter wonderland. In Liverpool it turned at about noon. Can still see the grass - and damn it's still waterlogged.
