  1. This type of setup is not without precedent here. Jogged my memory back to 4.16.07 in Skaneateles. Didn't go on April break so was hoping the weather would be nice in NY. On the 16th during the day the deformation band was so strong that in a stripe from maybe Auburn to Camillus it stayed snow, turning to rain in most other places. Was an amazing and heavy snow. If I remember measurements we got well over a foot that day - most sticking during the morning hours. Could happen again somewhere!

0z hrrr precip is done by 18z Friday. Razor thin gradient here. I'm just west of the 8.5, right on tioga county line in the 10" shade. Can't ever remember a synoptic storm around here where totals could be 2-3x different over a several mile stretch.

What? What about that storm last year when you guys pushed 30" and we smoked the length of a Vienna sausage up here in sizzle?

Weekend def a coastal storm. We won't have to nail bight how far west the good stuff ends up, Ala the NE and esp the NYC forum.  Looks like 00Z Euro puts NYC on west edge of heavier totals with a sharp gradient. Almost no wiggle room there.

3.3"/0.16 LE yesterday. Not quite enough for a "Top 5" event here, only 7th as I did record two separate 3.5" snowfalls prior.  About 7" over past 3 days and snowdepth almost a foot now.  Combined with -7F this a.m., deep winter.  These are the kind of wintry stretches you rarely get in more coastal or SE areas.

We nickel and dime our way to glory!

I remember this storm very well!  Was on college break in Weedsport at the time. Without a doubt it was the heaviest synoptic snow I’ve ever experienced. Only heavier snow I’ve been in, and it’s close, was a lake effect storm in Fulton. Don’t recall the year (around 2010) but rates were just unreal, 5”+/hr. In a battle of full fetch southwest flow event off Erie and triple lake connection off Ontario (I’ve experienced both) I give Ontario the nod.

Agree. I was out Cross county skiing with my dog for the 2 hours when this hit. My parents almost called 911 because they were worried I was lost. It was an amazing experience being out when literally 5" of snow falls in an hour
