It's unbelievable

We went from major drought to normal in less than a month. Now all of a sudden storms want to cut west of the apps. I feel like our last chance at any hope will be after the polar vortex reloads after this weekend into the first of February. Ive seen storms in the foothills in March but its been once or twice in my 32 years on earth. The only thing we have to show for this winter so far has been the cold temps and one minor icing which was 2 weekends ago.

You’re good - this is the foothills thread. It’ll always consist of more of us getting screwed than winning BUT when we win, we’re popping the champagne in this thread.

Maybe I won't get ridiculed for posting models that don't show the most snow here?
We are used to 33 and rain… you cant hurt us.

Bigger wins for across the board this run! If this keeps up we are going to have 3 ft of snow next week

Really worried about blowing rock up into the mountains… all that weight on those trees and powerlines might make for a bad mixture with the wind coming. The blowing rock downtown live cam looks beautiful right now though.

Sleeting in Lenoir currently at 46.7

Temps dropping nicely under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Down to 43 with a dew of 25.
What is the current temp at the locations that are reporting sleet?
Sleeting in Lenoir.. 46.7

One not so fun trend I’m seeing for the foothills is the clear downsloping signal on the globals. A tale older than time. These setups are notoriously difficult to pull off in the immediate Lee.
Im hoping that goes away for my sake…. But not holding my breath.

Just need the ULL a bit farther south.
Shoot down a chinese weather balloon and weird things happen…

Yeah the fog has been bad the past couple of months in the foothills. Unless there's a miracle way down the road it looks like we could very well get blanked this winter in the southern foothills. It will be only my second winter in Rutherford county since starting in 1981-82 in the last 41 years not to record at least a trace of snow, sleet, freezing rain or anything in the frozen department. The only other time I got blanked was in the horrible winter of 2011-12. This winter would and probably will be the second snowless in the last 41 years. If it wasn't for that Christmas cold snap I would say this winter would be worse than 2011-12 with all the cold rainy days. I just don't know what to expect down the road later in February or March except rain and more rain and then some more rain.
Depression… and more fog. 100% can guarantee more fog.

For real… i mean we are all getting hated on in the mountain thread for leaving… let us have 2 minutes of wishing before we accept reality and we get a 17 inch storm in late February overnight and the next day the temp is 82 degrees.
