  1. As all so called weather experts know 60's and 70's at this early time shouldn't be, when it is death and destruction follows, winter will return with strong storms and cold fronts and people will pay for it. Many people paid with their lives, destruction we can only imagine. It may feel great and getting out in the yard, but the consequences are too high a price, My prayers go out to those people and anyone who lost loved ones. We all need to keep that in perspective. We have no control, just something to keep in mind. Next time it could be you and loved ones.
  2. Blizzard of 93 keep up the good work; need that to happen plus few more times after that. Anybody loves to mow grass that much, please come to my place all mowing season, have a great time. I'll watch.
  3. Thanks Blizzard of 93 for posting those maps; keeping things updated for us few following that; the old narrative the last 5 months is really old and worn out. Keep up the good work.
  4. Up here in the poconos of NEPA many early mild/warm March's turned cold and snowy in the last half, not unusual for that to happen. In 2017 we had largest blizzard ever, late Feb early March was in the 60's and 70's; the snow accumulated on the ground and sun angle meant nothing. Hope springs eternal.
  5. looks good for NEPA last few weeks of March
  6. People need to ignore the long range models; they are not used in short term, you need to ignore long range and follow short range. Euro, GFS, Canadian, their time is over; now only short range; need to be careful, short range showing banding over a certain area can change the next few hours and be somewhere else. Been through it, I know it happens. It's more of a now casting then assuming right now 18 or more hours from now this is where it will be, will be disappointed.
  7. Never saw such discrepancy with so called experts. If anything shows something good within minutes some expert shows how all that won't happen and it's basically all over. I have listened and read many experts saying the exact opposite of this doom and gloom. I would think it's great for us in northern PA gets the heavy snow and southern PA gets the rain. Maybe these few here will be glad they were proved right. No matter what model or future connections show good times the few here soon will be on with the bad news, but always with that sentence; might be wrong. That covers themselves. Now someone saying spring early not much left, if that' s the case why not end the winter forum and just go to spring mode. Can just imagine the comments I'll see, not that I care. Good luck to the few who aren't like they are. Hope you get the good stuff.
  8. Same people 3 or 4 weeks ago said nothing showing for snow; then we get 3 storms in a row,[ now again same people saying nothing for 3 or 4 weeks, because someone or some model said so. we now see possible storm on the 29th, could hit us deep snow could disappear, but it's there now. nothing showing today doesn't mean nothing tomorrow; oh wait it does show something today for the 29th. something hopefully to track. The experts can't figure out 3 days let alone 3 weeks. As we all know computers are wrong many times, they aren't god's.
  9. We had a great snowstorm here last weekend; for those too far south that's the risk you take living there, models look great for this period; but there are those who cherry pick the one model that says rain; same old same old; if next Tuesday/Wednesday does as good as last weekend most are in great shape. But keep looking for that one model that says no, and for your area you might be lucky and be right for your area.
  10. Old saying, "misery loves company", some on here look for anything that says punt rest of January. You people scare the snow away! LOL Anything bad some here can't wait to trumpet it; anything good, oh that will change. Move to Maine and be happy, live in southern PA south and east, well suffer. Get over it. Come up here to the pocono's where I am; you'll see more snow; past weekend around 11 inches.
  11. well here in Mt Top luzerne cty started snowing yesterday about 12:30 had few inches by 6 then the heavy stuff came , could not see across the street till about 9 then went to sleet and freezing rain till 11 and stopped; started snowing around 3 or so when I looked out and snowed light to moderate till around 11; all together around 9 or 10 inches but I'm at 1700 ft, airport around 5 or so, but wet snow, so by morning with the ice on top and wet it was compressed. Oh well still good, now get passed tuesday and wednesday then we go again.
  12. Good morning from Mt Top elev 1700 ft in Luzerne cty; Looks good for all areas here; for my area around 10 or so inches, I wish we all could get in on the snow ; rarely does that happen, many more chances in the pipeline. I know the disappointment, been thru it, yrs 2009-2010, 2010-2011; 2012=2013; we got clouds or flurries and Virginia, DC, maryland, Delaware, Jersey; LSV, SEPA; lehigh valley, I95; NYC; Long Island Southern NE; got burried. We are all snow lovers and want it every year. Mother Nature doesn't work that way. All this doesn't take away the disappointment, but mother nature will always balance out. Patience is hard; lets not scare snow away. Good luck to all, anyway its all gone by Wednesday.
  13. I'm hoping to retire at the end of this year, we're in the same age group. Life is too short and it goes fast, even though will believe that's true.
  14. life referenced, it did bring chuckle to me, very good, my best answer; try your inner self, ask what if life is really important, what really matters. Hopefully those answers won't be too hard to find. Sorry if I became too philosophical. We will make it through.
  15. People take a deep breadth and relax, not long ago some here proclaimed no snow for next 2 weeks; then models changed and snow , one after another, now 1 model comes out says cutter and so many here throw in the towel; all that rain, thought we'd have long run of cold and snow. Will you all stop living and dying by each model and especially those almost 2 weeks away. Look beyond the model; see what is causing that, you just might find something that doesn't look right, and the next day a completely different outcome. Chill out.
  16. After reading the comments and predictions on here living and dying by each model run that they are gospel, an old saying comes to mind, a little knowledge is dangerous. Those on here who look at a model or some forecast and proclaim this is correct; obviously don't know what they are doing. There are so many aspects around the globe affecting the wweather, you need to find out how they affect weather later on.
  17. There will always be those who post that are rude, obnoxious, just plain nasty. Over my many years of life, don't want to mention how many, I found best way to deal with them is just ignore them. Don't answer it, that's what they want to keep it going, they know they are getting under your skin. After time, some longer than others, they just fade away. They aren't getting any attention. It might be hard for some to ignore, but trust me, it works.
  18. I know last 2 or 3 years hav been bad, frustrating, disappointing, you name it. Remember those last 3 years were La Nina winters, usually lousy for us, and there never was 3 years in a row; ow it's opposite, El Nino winter; December not good, but later it is. We've been burned many times, but all things point to good times very soon. Waiting is always nerve wracking.
  19. wxdisco servers being replaced; will be back up after new years; extra month given to those who joined. All was listed on the forum before it temp went off.
  20. Nice snowfall here in Mt Top, Pa elev 1700ft. Around 4 inches or so on deck and around 2.5 on the driveway. Heavy wet snow so compacted don't know what actually fell when it started, sure there was melting at the start, woke up few times during the night, looked out the bedroom window, snowing very hard, couldn't see all the way up the road
  21. Well my friend being 67 years old I've seen many great snowstorms and winters; and been so disappointed in just as many misses and lousy winters. So many memories. I'm sure we'll get along fine.
  22. Hello everyone, new to this forum, located in MT Top, Pa elev around 1700 ft; so far sounds good here; just for info NWS has a wwa for 4-6 inches and valley 1-3 inches, time will tell. Hope all have a great winter. Patience I'm sure will be needed for us all. Maps will change, computers are not perfect, I learned that many years ago. I'm giving away my age, probably older than most here. Good luck all.
