  1. All it takes is for 1 or 2 more decent snowfalls for most to be at almost seasonal levels. Winter IS NOT over yet. Everyone should be thrilled with this winter compared to last year. I definitely think most get close to seasonal snowfall before winter is over.

This might be a good example of the winds off the Sound fracturing snowflakes.  ISP reported 24.7" of snow with 1.33" SWE.  I had 16.4" of snow with 1.62" SWE.

We had 34 inches under a death band in that storm. People were stuck in cars on rt 347. 4 inch per hour rates for 3 hours. Never saw snow accumulate in front of my eyes like that.

  3. South of Atlanta here. Just moved from long Island NY. Trying to get used to the mid 20's at night, and then the mid 50's during the day. The temps up north didn't vary as much, I guess because being on long Island, the water kept us a bit warmer at night. I am enjoying the the warmer sun down here. Nice to get out and not be blasted with damp cold air.

35 now. Maybe tonight is the night we freeze

I just moved south of Atlanta off the island. Funny thing down here, is it's been in the mid 20's at night, but warms to the mid 50's during the day. The mid 50's definitely feel a bit warmer though, I guess because the sun does feel a bit stronger.

This time last week the storm we are currently following was forecasted to be a warm rain event to Maine. The airmass and setup has certainly improved

Very good point. January has arrived, and so has some cold. I feel the last few years any snow in December is a gift.

  6. Drove through that torrential rain around 4 am Thursday morning leaving long Island with the wife following. It was terrible on the L.I.E. Accidents everywhere. We were lucky and made it down to Georgia, where we will start our new life. Good luck to everyone up north getting some snow. Im sure eventually it will happen.
