Typical these years. Warm March, then cold April and May. The pattern sucks

I'm guaranteeing a snow storm march 6th. Got an important flight that day into NY

Wow. some areas will get a foot. What a poorly modeled storm
I mentioned this yesterday, and got my azz reamed. This storm is a fast mover, but INTENSE.

It's a weeny fest in here with some of the complaining. Everyone should be thrilled. 1st snowstorm for most in a long time. It's just getting cranking off the coast, coastal areas are about to be dumped on for most of the morning.

I’ve had 2-4” for N Shore since Friday night. I’d await 12z runs and would adjust upward to 4-8” if models stay consistent. 12” isn’t happening on the N shore with the fast movement and temps when precip starts imo.
It can happen, especially with the south trends. There's a ton of moisture with this storm.

I think a good call, at this point, for Long Island is a general 3-6 inches.
Some areas, especially the North shore could see 12 inches.

This might be a good example of the winds off the Sound fracturing snowflakes. ISP reported 24.7" of snow with 1.33" SWE. I had 16.4" of snow with 1.62" SWE.
Jan 22 radar:
We had 34 inches under a death band in that storm. People were stuck in cars on rt 347. 4 inch per hour rates for 3 hours. Never saw snow accumulate in front of my eyes like that.

I just did did the opposite. Moved south of Atlanta for less harsh winters, and no snow.

The train of precip being wasted...just need some cold.

I went to college at Emory, which is in Atlanta. That area radiates very well. Are you south of the airport?
Yes, about 30 miles south
-
South of Atlanta here. Just moved from long Island NY. Trying to get used to the mid 20's at night, and then the mid 50's during the day. The temps up north didn't vary as much, I guess because being on long Island, the water kept us a bit warmer at night. I am enjoying the the warmer sun down here. Nice to get out and not be blasted with damp cold air.

35 now. Maybe tonight is the night we freeze
I just moved south of Atlanta off the island. Funny thing down here, is it's been in the mid 20's at night, but warms to the mid 50's during the day. The mid 50's definitely feel a bit warmer though, I guess because the sun does feel a bit stronger.

This time last week the storm we are currently following was forecasted to be a warm rain event to Maine. The airmass and setup has certainly improved
Very good point. January has arrived, and so has some cold. I feel the last few years any snow in December is a gift.

I'm a newbie from NY, just moved to Georgia. I think it's colder here right now. Lol. About 30 miles south of Atlanta.

Drove through that torrential rain around 4 am Thursday morning leaving long Island with the wife following. It was terrible on the L.I.E. Accidents everywhere. We were lucky and made it down to Georgia, where we will start our new life. Good luck to everyone up north getting some snow. Im sure eventually it will happen.

Moving to south Atlanta area in 3 days. Was hoping for a snowfall event before I left. Not happening. Oh well. Guess it's time to move on to the south east forum.

Not gonna use the torch phrase, but December has been hot as fuck this year.

All it takes is for 1 or 2 more decent snowfalls for most to be at almost seasonal levels. Winter IS NOT over yet. Everyone should be thrilled with this winter compared to last year. I definitely think most get close to seasonal snowfall before winter is over.
