1/23/16, from what I remember we got pretty lucky in Richmond. Day 1 was a bust with plenty of sleet and mixing. Then on day 2 the wraparound over performed and put on an amazing show.

Hopefully this band stalls a bit before pulling north.

Banding is definitely going to be key wherever it sets up.. Again it’s going to be a big difference within just a few miles of a few inches to nothing at all..
By 4pm we should be able to know if we are going to be totally screwed or not
Yep, going to need some luck for sure.
Radar looks pretty good in Northern NC. HRRR starting to tick back south.

12z FV3 brings a heavy band of snow this afternoon through the west end.

Short range models develop a heavier band around Richmond in the 3-5 pm time frame. That will be our chance.

Inch would be nice. I really hope we can get a decent storm in Feb. Need to kill this terrible snow drought. I don’t know the last time we had over an inch.
1/3/2022 I think

Thanks RIC, I agree, a cold 1-3” that can stick around for a few days is a big win.

The euro being suppressed so much gives me hope that this won’t trend too far north for us.

The 14 years between the winters of 1947-1948 to 1961-1962 was the longest time without a 20+” snowfall winter. They were surprisingly common!
This year will be the 14th year since the 2009-10 winter…
Wow, didn’t realize it was that bad.

Looks like another chance the weekend of 1/20.

Was a good storm, gusts over 50 with power flashes. And the roar of the wind was really something.

Wind is verifying. And the short term models swing a squall line through around 7pm. Could get ugly.
Hopefully once this cutter swings through some snow threats show themselves next week.

That storm really would be a miracle.
Looks like we have some Monday morning snow showers to track maybe?

Rates and intensity are really picking up in the band.

That yellow band is coming this way. Slowly.
Yea we need to get some better rates going. I measured .25" in the past hour.

All snow in the west end. I measured an inch of sleet and snow on my board. Side roads are covered. The wind is something.

Would take this storm in a heartbeat and it was nice. But I remember busting low on that due to awful snow ratios. Nothing but needles.
