Frederick Scanner reporting a water rescue in Walkersville at Devilbiss Bridge Rd./ Monocacy River. Apparently someone put in a kayak and it was found without the Kayaker.
Also mountain rescue on Appalachian Trail at Annapolis Rock.
Oof, didn't think about the hikers on the AT. Those people went through a heck of a ride last night.

While not tropical, there was a deep feed of tropical moisture, I believe from the Gulf traveling North nearly 1,500 miles. Very impressive indeed !
Growing up on the Gulf Coast, I noted a few times in my head yesterday that the low clouds and quick movement of the lower layers looked very tropical in nature. Have not been outside today to see if it's the same as yesterday.

Higher terrain to the west, esp upslope areas. Probably not in the metros.

LOL Gulf of America in a NWS AFD. Pathetic.
Genuinely wondering why. Worried about their job, or are some all in on the agenda?

Unfortunately all the issues with the Os rotation is clearly evident the first time through. Everyone in world sees it.
Elias dosn't seem willing to trade from an area of strength ( position players) to fix their weakness. ( pitching). Until Cowser broke his thumb they were probably going to have to send down Krstadt which is just nuts.
The last 8 months or so has been mind boggling with Elias's trades and FA signing.
They've already passed the point of being able to extend Gunner. Seeing KC jumping on extending Witt early and then Boston ponying up the prospects and then signing Crochett long term is really infuriating to me.
Elias certainly is a great talent evaluater to draft and develop the position players they have but his trade deadline last year was a disaster.( other than Eflin)
It's been downhill since winning the division 2 years ago.
As currently constructed they seem to be an 80 - 84 win team.
I know Financials are a different animal in the NFL but look at the Commanders. There going for it while JD5 is on a rookie deal. Your paying Gunner not much more than League minimum to put up mvp numbers but you can't afford a front line pitcher? Give me a break. I thought we were passed the point of signing guys like Kyle Gibson. Apparently not.
Don't forget that Chris Davis still has the 5th highest salary on the team this year at 9.16 Million...

Kevin Williard is quite the Wiesel
I just don't get it. With the new facility coming online and all the money that comes from being in the Big 10, plus what was reported to getting offered the top salary in the conference next year to stay, why would you go to the Big East?

Checks rain gauge - yep, still 0.00 in Towson. On a related note, I can barely move right now because what i thought would be 2 hours in the yard before the rain came turned into 6 solid hours of yardwork and gardening that my body was, in hindsight, wholly unprepared for.

I know fall is a better time, but if I were to overseed my lawn in Towson, when would be the best time to do it this year?

Spring begins March 1st. Whether or not it feels like Spring is another story. Probably not the way things are looking at this juncture.
When I transplanted to the Mid Atlantic from the south, what struck me weather-wise was that Falls here were much warmer than I expected and Springs much colder.

Snowed for a few hours in Towson and now shifting over to snow/sleet mix. I must say, this winter has been a blast in terms of the number of times we've gotten flurries and wintry mix compared to the past few years where it was all rain in the metros. There is something to be said about snow TV days without having to shovel.

Yeah I don’t care much about what school decides to do. If they close my kid is still learning from home. I can imagine it’s tougher for elementary kids though.
It is. But if I'm the superintendent making the choice, I either close school and everyone logs in from home and I still get my funding and credit for a school day, or I make everyone come in and run the very low risk of a bus sliding off the road and overturning in a ditch? Slam dunk easy choice there. It's the new reality.

Yep. Balt co let out 3hrs early and we won’t get more than a couple inches
With every kid in BCPS having a laptop these days, there is very little downside to online school from time to time. Literally no reason to "tough it out like we did back in the day".

HRRR looks better. Im happy.
Oof I didn't even think about you all (assuming fed) and the ones who will be dealing with DC traffic this afternoon on a day everyone should be WFH regardless.

Ha! I remember a time when the north trend was a predictable phenomenon. Just hasn't really been that for quite some time now - certainly not consistently.
They always turn north, until they dont.

Zero clouds in Towson. Let's get some low lows before the clouds roll in!

Folks, this is it. This is the last of the snowpack that has held on in my shady backyard ever since the first event 30 days ago on 1/5. Let's keep this streak alive and bring this one home!

the number of threes that teams take is basically comical at this point - not everyone is steph curry lol
The Wizards drafted Alex Sarr the best C/F in last year's draft and have a good chance to get Cooper Flagg who will be the best C/F in this year's draft. If the NBA does address the 3 point issue and the game moves back to the paint, watch out.

You know, if some of these posters wind up being right and it’s indeed over then it’s really gonna sting, solely because of the fact that New Orleans got more snow than the metros. If next year is a wall to wall snowless torch like 16-17 or 22-23 the it’ll sting even more in retrospect.
This also means that the weenies will be downright insufferable, an absolute tsunami of butthurt. You know what though? Should that come to pass I think they’ve earned it, when you get screwed over that hard you should have the right to be upset about it.
Our “turn” can’t come soon enough.
I've had snow on the ground in my Towson backyard since the 6th and the garbage trucks still won't go down the alley due to a 2" layer of stubborn ice. This year is not a bust for me.

Haven't been to a game yet, but I'm assuming it has to be a vast majority of away team fans
I've been to a half dozen games this year and, despite losing, they are a blast to watch. They have 4 impact players (3 starters) under 21 and are a lock to have one of the top 3 picks with a real shot at drafting that kid out of Duke. Beyond 2025, they have at least 1-2 1st round and 4 2nd rounders in the 2026 draft so they have a lot of draft capital to trade when the time comes to go for broke.
So yeah, they are truly at the bottom in terms of wins/losses, but are in fact pretty far along with the rebuild.

No another Super Bowl no one wants to watch. At least the Redskins have 100M in salary cap room.
Salivating at the idea of a Tee Higgins and Terry McLaurin duo.

Embarrassment of riches. We're so focused on Sunday that we aren't even talking about today, BCPS has already cancelled all afternoon activities due to the afternoon snow coming. In years past we were so starved we would have been tracking today's storm.

It's a great time to be a Commanders fan. While I wouldn't trade Lamar for anyone in the world right now, it has to be acknowledged that his contract will eventually start to hinder the moves Baltimore makes and their window will grow smaller. At the same time, the Commanders have a few more years to spend heavily around Daniels and his rookie contract.

It's a little too early in the day for rain. It's a nice respite, but once this passes and the sun comes back out it's gonna be a hellish sauna out here.
