The gd Ole inverted trof. Right over or just south of us..southern part of the city should be getting some very gd snows rn moving now very slowly.

Still coming down moderatelyRadar looks pretty good Wonder if we can squeeze out an inch with this
I'll prob bet the over on this one. This blob of moisture isn't gonna move much or very slowly for the next hour or so..everything is already snow covered here .I'll take this on my birthday

Gotta love ivt trofs,it's coming down moderately and my temp has dropped to 26f.. the radar looks like it's getting better too. Some gd forcing right over us

it's fairly light here after an initial brief burst
It should be ramping up soon..its sharpening as it moves east..also looks like it's slowing down just a tad..

As I said yesterday this bore some resemblance to 12-11-93...difference is no negative tilt this time so the snow band is going to rotate through quickly. Interesting how in both cases almost 30 years apart the models did not see the snow correctly associated with the vort/trof and incorrectly placed too much precip earlier.
You know as you look at it in action now, its trying to go neutral. Oh so close.. lol

I think we all get a coating with this band. It’s got some dynamics. Timing is better with lower sun angle and temps are much colder
That's exactly what I'm thinking..im at 28f rn..confectioners sugar is gonna fall on everyone and stick. Lol

It will be interesting to see what the approaching line will give us soon.
For most of us city folks this will prob give us more snow then the main event. Also the winds are howling now.

whats prolonged? do you mean it lasts an hour?
As in nor moving at 40+ mph.usually a squall doesn't last long unless it's stationary or slow moving like this one..

I was just about to post this. It's holding together and it's not far.
It's def holding up. In fact it might even enhance as it approaches the coast, there is still a disturbance passing by so we'll see how it hold up.

The prolonged snow squall is now approaching nw nj. It looks healthy crossing the mountains so far.. I think after 3 we all get a mini snowstorm..just my opinion..

All that in central PA will dry up as it comes over the mountains and downslopes. Maybe there can be a coating with some snow squalls later under the trough. But overall a lame event. Finally seeing some snow flurries here.
Well it could be worse, boston is still liquid. The rain/snow line is crawling across new england now, taking its time..for us here we still have a chance of a surprize later on. The upper disturbance still has to come thru.

I think our accumulations come later on..setting sun, dropping temps, snow squalls. Also the backend is still in pa..all that will swing thru, maybe with some enhancement as the upper level low comes by.

The visibility is dropping a bit so that could only mean snow is now falling..fat wet windswept snowflakes..i expect a full changeover over the next half hour or so for all of us.
-
The flip is coming in fast..radar looks pretty gd too..its pinging outside currently by my house already.

Down to 46 here after a high of 57..skies look gd for some cooling even before the real cold arrives. And tbh the cold is trying to charge in here,it's already snowing in buffalo.

It's going to be very difficult for the city on east to accumulate anywhere near 6 inches. This thing is flying and is basically over by late afternoon. I think the nam is way overdone in my area in MHV also. We are not getting 9-10 inches. It would be great by I don't see anybody in the area getting more than 6-7 inches N and W and far less NYC and east.
Yeah im not on the 9 inch bandwagon either but with heavy precip and a flash freeze,I think it piles up fast and I do think we reach 4 to 6 here in the city. Snow ratios are going increase as it gets colder also which should maximize accumulations before it ends
