GFS needs to quit playing games with my heart. It can’t cave to the Euro like that then come back and give me hope.

Gosh, GFS, Icon, and Canadian look nothing alike for the Sunday/Monday storm!
To me the GFS appeared to take a step toward the Euro’s 12z run. Who knows what the Canadian was thinking. I guess it wanted to shut down central Arkansas for a couple of weeks.

I remember those days. The sleepless nights because the next model run is just a few hours away. The excitement and anticipation and the buildup of the run, and then the agony of defeat when the model showed the storm going to the north, but wait....... the next model run is just a few hours away, and it'll be different this time..........
It’s so nice to know other people go through this. Most people just don’t understand weather model addiction. The worst part is when someone wants to make small talk about the weather and I want to do a frame by frame breakdown of why everything they just said was completely incorrect.

12z GFS for the win on Friday for nwa. My goodness!

I would say about an inch here just north of Pea Ridge. I think Fayetteville was the big winner with this. Heard 49 south of Fayetteville is a mess.

The GFS has storm after storm coming through our area. Canadian doesn’t look bad either. Looks like an exciting next couple of weeks.

Attention turns to January 9th-11th, looks like a consensus on cold air, now if we could just lock in the GFS at 2 weeks out that would be great, HAH.
I just checked the GFS after reading your post. Yeah. I say we lock that storm in. Gives me a little over 2 feet of snow. I could use a few weeks off work.

00z GEM with something similar at that time as well.

18z GFS for the win especially over northern Arkansas and southern Missouri for the March 3 system.

Sorry to hear about your power. Safe to say that if the euro verifies for next week there may be more power issues. I love winter weather but I am not sure I want an ice storm.

Haha. My bad stormdragonwx. Also thought that this chart was interesting. Not often you see a greater than 50 percent probability for greater than 8 inches of snow for our area.

Winter storm warning issued for North west Arkansas and Tulsa was added to the winter storm watch.

Just lost power in midtown Tulsa. Yikes!
Is your power still out?

I could be wrong but I don’t think I have ever seen Tulsa issue a snow squall warning before. Shows just how strong this system is.

Cold front has moved through here in NW Arkansas. Temperature falling quickly.

Winter weather advisory issued for Northwest Arkansas. Our forecast calls for 1-3 inches. The advisory says that near blizzard like conditions will briefly be possible behind the front:
ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Near blizzard like conditions will briefly be possible behind the front with greatly reduced visibilities.

Snow totals appear to have ticked up on the Canadian.

I’ll never forget a couple years back when we were under a winter storm warning and it still completely busted.
I remember that too. And I think it was like the next model run right after they issued the wsw that showed all was not going to plan.

Well that run delivers a White Christmas for like 3/4 of this subforum... and measurable snow on Christmas Eve for central MS and AL.
Now we just need to amp it up.
My former comrades in the Mid-Atlantic sub are going wild
Yeah. Nice GFS run compared to this morning. Canadian had a snowier solution too. Need to check the ensembles and see if they are looking more promising. Thanks stormdragon for that link. White Christmas would be great.

Man. I really want to be inspiring at this point. But after the last 24 hours of model mayhem I’ve become comfortably numb. But I will say this, I think this is a really complex system that has caused the models a lot of trouble and we have the benefit of high ratios. I think we will get a nice snow to look at just not the big storm we were expecting from a few days ago. Go team!
