  1. If the pressure keeps dropping with each pass have a feeling we get a update to make it Cat 5 with 160mph winds.
  2. Agree this thing still has a chance to go higher. And sadly I don't see the surge going east towards central LA. according to the interview from the NWS Director on the weather channel a few minutes ago.

  4. By the 8pm advisory would not be shocked its at or very close to 160mph. If these trends continue.
  5. Yeah for sure 15-20 feet in surge is crazy!
  6. The 5pm and 8pm advisory should be good. We should see it get close to 160 if these trends keep up. Especially if no Eye Wall Replacement Cycle happens.
  7. Cat 5 is on the table going to pull a Michael right into landfall.
  8. It will make it just a matter of time Ryan Maue was saying the same thing.
  9. Yep I will be shocked if it does not hit Cat 5 status. https://imgur.com/a/HKJ93KU
  10. https://imgur.com/a/HKJ93KU Basically him saying Cat 5 is very possible.

  12. Would bet it gets to 150 at least. So I would not take Cat 5 off the table even Ryan Maue said it could become a Cat 5.
  13. @RyanMaue · 26m Hurricane Laura is not (yet) Category 5. Cloud tops around the eye would need to be colder. It does have a ragged look that is typical of still intensifying hurricanes. But, as with Michael (2008) that hit Florida panhandle, Laura could become Category 5 or close to it.
  14. Guys Cat 5 possible at this point now?
  15. 7:00 AM CDT Wed Aug 26 Location: 26.4°N 91.4°W Moving: NW at 15 mph Min pressure: 963 mb Max sustained: 115 mph ...POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC STORM SURGE, EXTREME WINDS, AND FLASH FLOODING EXPECTED ALONG THE NORTHWEST GULF COAST TONIGHT ...STEPS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS...
  16. I was thinking the same thing if its gets close to 140 or 135 even. Will more then likely make landfall as a Cat 4.
  17. Don't think so but I would not rule out a landfall close to 140.
  18. Hurricane #Laura Advisory 26: Laura Expected to Rapidly Strengthen to a Category 4 Hurricane. Forecast to Produce a Life-Threatening Storm Surge, Extreme Winds, and Flash Flooding Over Eastern Texas and Louisiana Later Today. Crazy how fast this is happening. Going to be a wild 2 days or so.
  19. As of 2 AM Advisory: Hurricane #Laura is rapidly intensifying over the Gulf of Mexico and now has maximum winds of 105 mph. Life-threatening storm surge, extreme winds, and flash flooding expected to begin later today in eastern Texas and portions of Louisiana. Side note would not be shocked to see this become a high end Cat 3 at landfall.
