If the pressure keeps dropping with each pass have a feeling we get a update to make it Cat 5 with 160mph winds.
-
Agree this thing still has a chance to go higher. And sadly I don't see the surge going east towards central LA. according to the interview from the NWS Director on the weather channel a few minutes ago.
-
Not far from Cat 5.

By the 8pm advisory would not be shocked its at or very close to 160mph. If these trends continue.
-
Yeah for sure 15-20 feet in surge is crazy!
-
The 5pm and 8pm advisory should be good. We should see it get close to 160 if these trends keep up. Especially if no Eye Wall Replacement Cycle happens.

Cat 5 is on the table going to pull a Michael right into landfall.
-
It will make it just a matter of time Ryan Maue was saying the same thing.
-
Yep I will be shocked if it does not hit Cat 5 status. https://imgur.com/a/HKJ93KU

https://imgur.com/a/HKJ93KU Basically him saying Cat 5 is very possible.

Would bet it gets to 150 at least. So I would not take Cat 5 off the table even Ryan Maue said it could become a Cat 5.

@RyanMaue · 26m Hurricane Laura is not (yet) Category 5. Cloud tops around the eye would need to be colder. It does have a ragged look that is typical of still intensifying hurricanes. But, as with Michael (2008) that hit Florida panhandle, Laura could become Category 5 or close to it.

Guys Cat 5 possible at this point now?
