What?  Threads were merged?  We need more threads not fewer.  At least three more banter threads.  Banters need to know how great it is to banter in the banter and not in the other threads.  It is like one port-a-potty at a rock festival.  If you have lots of porta potties everyone uses them.  If you have only one, people will piss everywhere.    Thread greed is good.  Snow greed is good.  Ice greed is good.

At this late stage in my weenieism, only 6-12" of ice will scratch the itch. Kinda like a cat 5 up the bay with a left turn at point lookout. I'm no spring chicken and time is running out on apocalyptic epicness to hit b4 I'm gone. I'd be honored at this point for winter wx to take me out. Heck, I had to come to grips with the same thing in the colorado backcountry and avalanches. You can mitigate but not remove the risk. So you either accept that every descent could be your last or dont make the first turn. I always said "this could be your final run of your life. Is it worth it?". The answer was always resounding F YEA!

    Ice greed

    you greed

    we all greed

    for ice greed

I've seen video at much more moderate temperatures and it working but the water has to be boiling because it's closer to the evaporation point.

I got a book that says water solidifies at 32 F.  I hypothesize it all depends upon how tall you are and strong your water-throwing arm is.  Paul Bunyan probably would need 30-ish F water or negative 1-2 C to get ice.  But what do I know about molecules, I’m just a halogen.

  4. Snow greed
My greed as the wind blows
My greed as the snow grows
Snow greed to follow your heart

    Live greed
    And beauty surrounds you
    The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a storm

    Stay greed
    Where no runs divide you
You're greed as a roaring tide
so there's no need to hide

    Born greed
    And life is worth living
    But only worth living
    Cos you're born greed

Why would anyone want a cold March?

To delay tree (apples, pear, peach) flowering.  The longer trees stay dormant the longer they can handle a hard freeze.   10 degrees F on April 1 after a warm March will eliminate any hope for fruit.  But the same 10 F after a cold March shouldn’t be a problem.

Yeah definitely.. not sure about how reliable this is.. but check out this link:

    https://www.currentresults.com/Weather/Maryland/Places/baltimore-snowfall-totals-snow-accumulation-averages.php

It says that average snowfall is greater in February than January..and we know that it gets spotty towards the end of February.  So I think it is safe to that we are heading in to our peak climo in the next couple of weeks

If climo valley temps (Jan.)precede peak climo snow (Feb.)....then are climo temps of any predictive value?

  7. It’s looking like another great March!  Marches of 2011-2017 were mild enough to have my stone fruit (cherries plums, peach) trees and kiwi vines leaf-out and bloom - only to be hit with a late freeze that killed off all the flower buds.

Last year only one plum tree emerged from dormancy early enough to be effected by the last freeze/frost.  Everything else stayed dormant through all cold spats.
