  1. I'm hoping that if it does make landfall on the Carolinas that it somehow continues to track westward towards the central states and then straight up into Canada and doesn't make the northward curve back towards NYC so NYC can also escape getting hit with the remnants. We always seem to get hit with the remnants which in turn still gives us cloudy dreary miserable weather which in that case if this is always gonna happen with us east coast landfall hurricanes then we might as well have it make a direct hit on our area since it will still give us cloudy rainy miserable weather either way. I live in the NYC area and am getting so tired of the unsettled stretch with weekends of late in particular which seems to be the target time frame yet again for us if that damn hurricanes remnants bothers us. I'm so sick of it already and want nicer weekends already
  2. Stormlover74? I sure hope so but let it stay sunny and warm until Thanksgiving is over and not get ugly just in time for Thanksgiving and the Thanksgiving weekend to ruin the holiday weekend
  3. Not true. NYC is not Seattle Washington. The clouds and rain are typical of Seattle Washington weather not NYC weather. This crap of nasty gray miserable Mays and Junes didn't even happen hardly at all when I was a kid growing up. We always had nice summery warm Mays and Junes plus this isn't even on the subject I asked which is about hoping that after September 11, if the heat breaks from September 12 onward that the gloominess doesn't come back for a while and that the nicer temps that most people like stays with not too much cloud cover or rain
  4. I still hope after September 11 that it doesn't get gloomier again for quite a while behind this heat. Hope starting September 12 that the cloud cover stays at a minimum for an extended period of time even if we wind up getting any onshore flow
  5. Hope the GFS is wrong. Really don't want to have to deal with more gloominess and chill again for quite a while if it must come back. Let it wait at least until November and not anymore during this summer after we get through today and tomorrow. I want that summer time heat back next week and I want it to stay for a while
  6. The only area I'm concerned about is NYC and the 5 boroughs since that's where I live. Hope the clearing line makes it there today as well and that we continue to have that break in the cloud cover going into tomorrow as well
  7. Another thing that is concerning me is why is an onshore flow giving an issue with cloud cover for today and tomorrow even though the ocean temps are much warmer this time of year than in April and May. Thought during the summer months that the onshore flow doesn't have as strong as an influence in terms of cloud cover and cooler temps like it does in April and May when the ocean temps are significantly colder. Just don't get it? I don't mind the cooler air but not with gray skies and no sun at all
  8. This is not a backdoor front though. This is a cold front that approached from the west and decided to stall to our south. Just hoping for those breaks of at least seeing some sun both today and tomorrow before the great lovely summer weather makes that comeback on Sunday. I know many people hate the summer heat and humidity but I love it much better thaan the clouds and chill
  9. Why is an onshore flow giving an issue with cloud cover for tomorrow and Saturday even though the ocean temps are much warmer this time of year than in April and May. Thought during the summer months that the onshore flow doesn't have as strong as an influence in terms of cloud cover and cooler temps like it does in April and May when the ocean temps are significantly colder. Just don't get it? I don't mind the cooler air but not with gray skies and no sun at all
  10. It looks pretty bad out there this morning in Queens. The sky is dark enough to make it look like it's night time out. Hoping much of this will end for a while with some sun to come out before noon before our next round arrives. Have to go out and don't want to get drenched. When it's torrential downpours even an umbrella won't keep anyone dry.
  11. Snoski14? I know it didn't happen once this month but what I am saying is that I hope it doesn't happen this entire weekend on either day
  12. The rain is fine just am hoping for it to be typical August precip with the convection type and then some sun out in between the rainy periods and not typical April stratiform all day gray gloomy stuff in the middle of the summer
  13. I'm hoping it will decide to happen sooner than that though at least by next weekend to give us a shot at having a nicer weekend than what is expected this weekend. So many people look forward to weekends in the summer for going to the beach and shores and the weekends are the most important days for it to be nice so I'm hoping it decides to happen by next weekend rather than waiting until July 31 or August 1
  14. I'm hoping the WAR decides to retrograde a bit westward back towards the coast to give us a shot at getting more summer time warmth and keeping the moisture pump just to our west instead of right over us with less unsettled weather and a bit more sun
  15. Also when is the precip from the weekend tropical storm supposed to start and end?
  16. See that word rainy week is making me nervous again. With that wording your making it sound like it's going to be more like April around here with cloudy, dreary drizzly weather when obviously it's should be worded scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the week not worded rainy week. Some people on blogs really need to watch what they say. I remember last December 3 weeks before December 29th someone on here said NYC was going to get 4 feet of snow on December 29th and we all know that 4 feet of snow for NYC is not going to happen.
  17. NortheastPAWx? The rain has never bothered me. It's just the timing when it's being forecast to happen and the type of rain we get that gets me concerned. If it's just overnight into the morning and we dry out by the afternoon with sunshine forecast to return I'm happy with that but if it's forecast to hang around throughout the day with no clearing expected it does stress me out a bit because cloudy dreary gloomy weather does kind of stress me out. I enjoy brightness not dark gray gloomy skies and prefer the convectve type of rain where it's just scattered showers and storms with sun out in between over the all day cloudy stratiform type
  18. dmillz25? I understand that in summer it rains, it's humid but I always get a little shaky with certain wording especially considering that last July was not a real summer especially that last week of July when nothing but cloud cover dominated and temps were not July like, they were only September like with low to mid 70s and that is what I hope not to see again during the unsettled stretch. Just hoping to get enough of sun out in between showers and storms with high temps at least into the 80s plus Monday July 23 I have a free outdoor movie night to attend at Forest Park Bandshell in Woodhaven NY at 8:00pm and I'm hoping that the weather cooperates for that
  19. Is it really going to rain non-stop for 3 weeks straight or more with no dry times or sun at all starting this weekend? That would be insane if true.
  20. Yes I know that no one can control the weather but the wording can make it sound real bad. With this wording I'm under the impression that the period will feature nothing but gray gloomy skies and well below normal temps. Hoping it's the summer type convection unsettled type where it's still warm and humid with sun out in between any showers and storms
  21. This is very upsetting news. Wish people would stop saying very wet period during this time of year. Making it sound like it's going to be like April with gloomy gray skies every day with no sun and well below normal temps. People should stop being so pessimistic all the time and start talking more positive about the weather for once
  22. There is an outdoor free movie night at Forest Park Bandshell in Woodhaven NY this Monday July 23 at 8:00pm that I'm supposed to go to and I sure hope the weather cooperates and much of the precip will end by then
  23. There's been a lot of talk about a wetter pattern starting this weekend and going into next week. Hopefully this doesn't mean April like weather with gloomy skies all day every day and no sun at all with chilly temps. And also when is the wet pattern expected to end and put us back in drier weather again?
  24. There seems to be a lot of confusion with the forecast for next weekend. The NWS is saying several areas of low pressure may affect the area while others are saying it's a frontal system while another one was saying another heatwave may start getting underway starting on Saturday July 21 so in reality what is really going on with the forecast for next weekend into the week of July 23?
