Anyone know off-hand how many weekends its rained in the past 3 months?  Seems like it's been almost every weekend with the exception of last week.

I don't know about the past 3 months but I heard or saw that 29 of this year's Saturdays have had rain.  I would assume that we have roughly 52 Saturdays.

  2. 1.90 so far in S. Arlington.

Radar indicated that it was gonna clear from the South around noon to 1.  So, I did some xmas shopping. Never happened. Steady to light rain all throughout.  It started churning right around the DC metro.  I think one of the mets said another system was gonna come around next weekend. That'll be bad for the retailers, I guess.

This system overperformed. I've got 1.30" in my rain gauge and still going. I checked this am and they were calling for .75.  Also, before this system, DCA was at 5.69" for the month. Maybe hitting 7" for Nov. with this one. Any thoughts of rain totals falling with the winter months were illusory.

Final total was 1.54" as that last whip around exits.  DCA is in the top 5 or 10 of rainiest years. You gotta think Baltimore is #1 already bc they've gotten more than us I'm sure.

Edit: I see that donald sutherland has us at #4.

It’s just so wet. So incredibly wet.

The next 4-5 days are going to be glorious.

I've fallen for that one b4.  I usually check my nws forecast.  This past spring summer the setup is always been: forecast sunny next 5 days. Then you get 1 maybe 2 nice days, then the it's all showers/rain (5-7 day forecast).  Usually going into the weekend!

My conspiracy theory is that the interns are running the models in the weekend and, when the Monday crew comes in, all forecasts are revised.

  6. Got a really dumping of rain around the lunch hour here. I missed it as I was at  work. Looked like your basic yellow cell on radar, but my rain gauge said it dumped .80 or so.  Also, the city drain is loudly gurgling water so I know it was a lot. Or, it's probably saturated rain that has to go into the Cheasapeake.

Total over this 2 day period is 2.36".

1.02" from Florence remnants thus far.  (although a mini train moving up from the SW)

Also, on of the TV mets had the Euro calling for a lot of action for our area today vs. the GFS that had all the action staying in the mountains to the W.  Looks like the Euro won.

Last night's T&L and rain show gave me roughly .5 inch.  Rain gauge said 1.52 this am.

1.98 and no rain for the past 1.5 hours.  Good demarcation point for a later update.

Has not rained since my update above. Nothing coming up according to radar.  Time for a rain total update.  Since that big rainstorm that developed Friday pm, I've gotten 4.08".

Went from 4-5 high heat index days to this monsoon.  Wish Mother nature would throw in some 4-5 days of low humidity cool days between these extremes.

0.93 in the Cocorah's gauge at 8am this morning, 0.78 since 8am. The ground is totally soaked once again. 4.99" since September 1st and 49.15" since January 1st. We do not need Florence.

Peeking ahead, most of the Florence rain could hit our area next Saturday/Sunday.  Coincidentally, those are the days I don't have to report to work:thumbsdown:

Total damage here was 1.15". Went outside and lots of cloud to cloud lightning and distant thunder. No more rain, though.

Spoke too soon. Picked up roughly another inch.  now at 2.10.  The yellows have moved out.  Had the whole enchilada: rain, thunder, lightning.  Lighting was more cloud to cloud. Earlier, it was more hitting the ground.

There was a cell that developed in my area then that blob from the S SW overtook it.

I checked DCA when this 2nd round started and they were already at 2". Pretty sure that they picked up some more. It's a rare day when DCA logs more rain than me.

  12. ^^^Canderson, was it brutal because of the weather or b/c your team lost?  I was watching it at home and didn't look like that many people showed up.

On more mundane matters: Just had a blob of heavy tropical-like rain that gave me 1.32" in about 40 minutes. Kinda light now but some light rain still falling.

Thus far, about ~1.7" has fallen for me in September (.40 this morning and 1.32 now).
