  1. 8-12"? I take. You guys in l.i...man..making up for lost time from back in the normal days where you guys would switch over...haha last 10 years have been nuts for l.i
Quite few SNAIN storms over the last few years...

It can be hard living on the coast in the winter...

But a couple of times we get a bone thrown to us...

Hopefully no tainting here this time in SW Suffolk....

  2. I have no clue what to think about these runs. These shifts are really  drastic.

Mid Atlantic states get more snow than the northeast on this Nam run
The 500's were ugly... soon as I got a whiff of those I knew it was game over...

Not sure what is to come... but every model is now screaming a more progressive trough... even the JMA....

Once you lose the JMA... it makes one wake-up...

Wow... What a turn of events from early this morning...

    Hopefully, it gets better....

  3. You always talk about traveling, get on the LIRR or drive to eastern LI.  It's not that far away and I think a lot of us should do it to experience a really big snowstorm.  Then we can all rub it in snowman19's face lol.
Who cares whether it snows in the city or not, it looks like dirty toxic stuff in a day or two anyway, let's go east to see the snow where it will actually look pretty.

Take in a blizzard in Greenport.. you won't regret it...

  4. Hi guys, wanted to post this yesterday but totally forgot, question for my fellow SW Suffolk members. My original snowpack was down to an average 4" this morning, but it was up to an average of 12.7" after the storm when I checked. Therefore that would give me a total of 8.7" of snow from this event, might that be a little too high? I figured I might have accidently undermeasured my original snowpack if it is actually a little too much
In West Islip... Thinking, 6" from this storm... The beginning robbed us... band setup over CT coast...

Have 10-11" OTG... was down to 4-5"...

    Beautiful out...

  5. Are temps supposed to drop when coastal kicks in?

Not on the most of the Island... according to WeatherBug the SNAIN line is about a mile south of me here in West Islip... Looks like from Islip through Patchogue (on barrier beach and over the bay) they are mixing already... I appear to be next...

This was modeled to happen late afternoon...

Not sure where this is going

Update 7:15am... SNAIN line retreats back over ocean.... This is going to be insane... riding the tiger in SW Suffolk... Oh boy.... 5 OTG, 31f with moderate snow... for now...

  6. No.  1/7/94 there were some places on the very far north shore that got like 5 inches of snow while the south shore was FZRA all day but that’s closest example I know

    Yes.

Live in West Islip, south shore... In Commack, 5-8 miles north, they received 12" of snow @ 32f while it was all rain by me@ 34f...

It did eventually change over and we got about 20" of snow... Commack through Centereach got 32"+...
