Phase 7 in late Feb and March is not bad at all dude . I dont understand the angst in here but I guess its easier on some people to always think the worst.
PTSD from earlier in the season.

I am beginning to think I am the jinx for this area, moved here December of 2014. Despite 2015 being great, we were definitely shafted in the SW area. At least I got to cash in on the 2009/10 winter living in Northern Delaware. In 2016, my home town in Millersville, PA got burried in the blizzard. Now this year....The melt is being driven by countless family members sending me photos of the Millersville area looking wintry, while we sit with bare ground. Except for our "icestorm", every snowfall they have had has exceeded expectations/forecasts and my friends and family love to rub that in....
I know, it came out wrong, but in this winter an all snow 1-3 inch snowfall is a storm in perspective, lol.
Except for March of last year, I don't think I've had a really memorable winter since 2013-2014. Every other year has targeted a different area.

I guess this is probably an unpopular opinion here, but if it's not going to snow, I still want it to be cold. Besides actually enjoying the cold, it helps with the insects, and it prevents my apple tree from pulling a March 2012, starting to wake up, then die in April.
There's a pool of warm water around Indonesia. Is that affecting the MJO and its insistence on staying around 4/5?

I think most of the snowcover will be gone here by Thursday night. Looks like 1.5" of rain and temperatures in the upper 40's coming up.
I'm looking forward to the icy patches on the roads being washed away. I fell twice running on Sunday and once yesterday.

Dumb question, but how are you all getting the expected snowfall maps for the weekend storm from NWS? I can only see the maps for tonight's deal.

You are pretty close to ground zero for the biggest icing threat. I think anyone near or just north of the Merritt in that area should be the most concerned. Basically an area bounded HVN up to Middletown over to Waterbury and DXR.
Do not want this. Send the ice to Tolland.

paint.NET is a good, simple, and free program. Less of a learning curve than GIMP. Got the job done when I created graphics back in my blogging days.
Download: https://www.getpaint.net/download.html
I can second this. Paint.net is simple and free. Hell of a lot easier to use than GIMP.

Isn't there a weak correlation between October snows and a crappy winter?
Maybe I'm just scarred from 2011-2012.
-
Quick question to those with knowledge: why has it been so cloudy for the past month? I feel like September and October are usually very sunny months.
-
I remember the late 90s in western CT was just awful. It must've been 97-98 that it just seemed to rain and ice.
-
I feel like it's been cloudy for a month. Looking at the daily forecast, it's been saying early clouds or fog transitioning to sun for the past two weeks. The clouds or fog never seem to leave. What's the reason for this?

Is it just my imagination, or are average low temperatures increasing year over year?

You know what? Im so done with stupid people. Ive been talking with a friend who lives on Emerald Isle, NC. A barrier Island. She just texted me and said she may not evacuate her family because the track has shifted south so it is not goingnto be bad anymore. I had been chatting with her for almost 2 hours about how bad things could get and storm surge combined with wave height and the fact that there is only 1 main route on and off Emerald Isle and it could get flooded out. And her power could be off for weeks...it will at least be off for days, and how there will be no emergency services if they realize they have made a big mistake and need to be evacuated. OH MY GOD!!! I just cant deal with stupid anymore. So be it, if **** hits the fan and people are stranded and need help but it's too late, i wont feel bad at all. She and her neighbors who want to stay, the only thing they heard out of all the info was Track Shifted South...and to them, it means all the bad stuff has gone away.
That's...not great. I was just on vacation in Emerald Isle. I went for a run daily and my run tracking app suggests that half the island away from the Atlantic side beach is below sea level. There's literally one bridge off Emerald Isle.

Yes. ENE in general would benefit.
