Who would want to wash car in February, what a waste of $$$$$ Wait until April/May.
only people who have never lived in a really snowy area can talk like that. I used to live in Buffalo, and I took every opportunity I got to rinse the salt off my car. It's literally eating and destroying the vehicle body. And in the end you'd have to spend a lot more $$$ to fix it later when it's all rusted through

continued steady moderate snow here. About 5" so far at 25 and no wind.

Something is going down on Elmwood in Buffalo. Time for one of your road trips, @BuffaloWeather.... Get the scoop and wave "hi" to the camera.

Never mind. They just all left. There were a whole bunch of police cars.
Perhaps that's a normal thing for there?
funny I used to live right behind that spot. Happened all the time

Yeah not the best spot for snow in Buffalo. Only a few big LES events in that spot.
most of the time I saw the bands, and sometimes the lightning, just to my south. Very frustrating at times

Well the highest totals were in New Jersey and PA. Finger lakes didn't jackpot they did really well. The top analog had central NY as jackpot zone though from CIPS.
Yeah I meant just New York. I remember a storm when I lived in Buffalo (Miller B, not LES) - was pretty late in March of 2010, 2011, 2012 maybe? - that dumped about 2 feet there.
-
is there any kind of precedent for this type of East Coast storm with the highest totals apparently in the Finger Lakes?

They miss Madison County by a good 8-10" ... And it's still going in the higher elevations.
and they got to be short several inches for Ithaca

This is insane! It simply won't stop snowing. Got another 8 to 10 inches overnight alone. Stopped measuring long time ago, but we must be well north of 2 feet for this event. Looks like we're getting close to 3 feet on the ground here.
Most snow I've ever seen in my life - and by now best snowstorm ever- 4

Getting absolutely crushed here at the moment. Heaviest snow so far for the whole storm in the past hour. Flake size has increased dramatically - pure fluff. Amazing storm, ranking very near the top for me, and that includes several years in Buffalo.

heavy snow now with periodic near whiteout conditions. Good stuff! I guess this is round 3 with lake-enhancement? Hard to say, but looks like close to 2 feet on the ground at this point.
-
after a lull last evening the storm really delivered here overnight. Woke up to at least 8 fresh inches, probably more, but hard to say with lots of blowing and drifting. Still snowing and picking up again at the moment.

Noticeable uptick in intensity in the past hour. Moderate snow now. It never actually stopped completely today.

After hours and hours of flurries yesterday it finally started to accumulate close to midnight. Surprised to wake up to about 3 to 4 fresh inches, and it's still snowing lightly now. Getting ready for round 2 now
-
Flurries / very light snow has started here. A bit ahead of schedule and probably a good sign?
-
Moderate to Heavy Snow now. 6-7" so far.

They’re getting crushed pretty good in Ithaca. Here’s a good webcam on the Cornell campus.
Intensity has picked up some, but nothing too crazy yet. Passed 3" mark.

Continued steady light to moderate snow here @ 24. Probably around an inch so far
.
-
started snowing here in Ithaca in the last 15 minutes or so

~10" @ 27F with continued moderate to heavy snow. Flake size has come down a lot. Wind is starting to get stronger. Local roads here a mess.
-
Heavy snow here for the past several hours. Reminds me a bit of LES when I lived in Buffalo. Looks like maybe 6 - 8 inches down already.
-
Woke up to quite a bit of snow out there Looks like around 1 foot. And there is some light snow coming down right now.
Preliminarily ... a medium impact partial Miller B, Friday

Yeah, I'm a bit outside of this sub-forum's area, but just wanted to share the disappointment (so far at least) about this storm. We are under WSW and were supposed to get up to 13" by tomorrow, but right now we have about an inch of slop, it's barely snowing and what's on the ground is melting at 35F
