Alright, I am kind of a lurker on here because I am a teacher in Sullivan County and have a vested interest in snow. Sullivan is a big county that has a ton of different elevations and also has Kingsport (which we all know is where snow goes to die). Let's put this in these terms, does this produce enough and stick around enough to get us a day off on Tuesday?

At this point it is highly unlikely. Looking like about the same amount of snow we saw last week.

I live in N Knox Co and the last two years I’ve exceed my yearly average for snow. So far this year I have picked up 4 inches from two storms. A widespread 8” snow in the East Tennessee valley is extremely rare.

    .

I can remember we used to average a big snow like that back every few years in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. I’m pretty sure our last big event like that was 98. Just weird we haven’t had one since the 2000s.

  3. I know a lot can change by Saturday evening but does anyone have an explanation for why East TN looks to strike out again on a good snow for their third time in a row?? Bad luck every time? I can’t help but think climate change is impacting this region in the last several years. It’s been so long since most of our region has a good widespread 8 inch + snow.

Yea, and to be fair, 2" is nice with cold 20 degree air. What I hate is spotty brown grass sticking out. Middle tn scored with Jonas? in 2016, were due for a 6 incher in the valley. Maybe this long term pattern produces

Yep! Last big snow in Greeneville was 2014. I’m just waiting to get an 8”+ 80s/90s style snow storm again. It’s a shame it’s been decades since we’ve had one that big.

Weenie rule number 62.  Never, and I mean NEVER............ use anything the NAM throws out beyond 36,42 hours.  lol

Oh no doubt, it wasn't in response to that NAM run. Just could see something similar happening with this event that did with Monday's snow. Too warm on the Eastern part of the state then lack of precip once snow mixes in.
