Looks to be a more W/E movement noe
-
Seems like far as radar, returns have been SW to NE, but last few frames have been a more W to E movement, I hope so because if not, MBY is not getting much next few hours far QP and with out that, nodda!

RIC does too. 36/21

Not looking good for my area. Major dry slot. The way this storm looked so juiced up to the south, did not work out here. Is this a case of the south robbing moisture? I know that has happened with past storms.

And once it gets here, looks to be only 2 counties wide pushing thru. Then we get slotted..... rain. Not looking good.
And I am not going by models, this is looking at real time radar.

Well, some models did well. Looks like I get a band of snow followed by a dry slot, then cold rain. That is for RIC. Hope I am wrong, but not looking pretty!

Well Baltimore Wx Guy lets hope you get a bit more than forecast.
I am pulling for all of you to get lots of the white gold.
So, when is your next available appointment? After this storm, I may need some positive thinking therapy! LOL. Still waiting for the virga to go away and actually see some weather.

Finally flipped back to sleet here too a while ago after a deluge of rain over night with temps. getting to 35 today. Back to the freezing mark now. May not get the snow day tomorrow, but I am off from work for several more days most likely. The hubby and eye have been cursed with Pink Eye. Thank goodness we have a reliable crew to keep our business going while we suffer from home. Never had this crap before and it is annoying!!

Just took a peak at radar and that mix line is pushing north right up 95 through RIC. Hope we can at least maintain sleet and not flip to rain/Fz rain. Holding steady at 31. But I think my area will go over to rain sometime tomorrow. Then maybe a shot at all snow again in the PM.

Bigger flakes now here in my part of Glen Allen just started to Accumulate again....could be a sign sleet on the way.. ha .. will see..
Higher rates can mean a flip to sleet may happen soon. Would be nice if you could stay snow. Would make my daughter happy. She and the hubby lives in the Glenn Allen area. At least for now. They are moving to NOVA next month in the Gainesville area.

Could be a situation where someone in RVA north and west of 95 gets mostly snow and 2 miles SE all sleet.
I personally think you are going to have to be in areas like Louisa, Powhatan, Goochland to stay all snow. Those areas favor all snow more than RIC in these type of systems.

Flipping to snow/sleet mix in and around RIC and the Tri Cities.

The Kuchera maps are good too
Maybe the totals go up if we get that last piece of energy coming through tomorrow night. But right now, areas around the metro are flipping to a mixed mess. And that is mostly what the HRRR simulated radar shows as well.

hopefully when these heavier rates hit you that will change it back over again.. if not .. that's not a good sign for the area..
That would be nice, but I am thinking this is going to be a sleet fest. That's okay though. So much better than freezing rain! I like having power without running a generator. We got next weekend and it will be here soon enough. That is the storm I will be watching. And right now, I am liking how it looks. BTW, I am northern PG, just 25 miles from RIC.

I like the latest HRRR. RAP isn’t bad either
The totals include sleet, which is what it is mainly showing for RIC for most of the run. That is once we get passed the next few hours of snow.
-
Intellicast radar show all snow over me here in PG (blue, not pink), but there is indeed sleet mixing in with the snow now. I started to hear the pinging on the window and was surprised due to the fact radar shows no mixing anywhere near me.

In Chester
DT messaged me earlier and said he had 1" also in Chester.

We have 1" down here in Prince George, Va. Temperature is 31 after a high of 37 earlier today. In a lull right now, should not last too long though. Dreading the mix mess coming my way late tonight though.

We have about an inch or so here in Prince George too.

Another pity MD from SPC for the RIC area. 40% for a watch. Hoping the cells to my west hold together!
